Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

well finally got off my keyster and had a nice warm day and managed to get the olive roots powerwashed, whew, kicked me butt doing it, and well i was pleasantly soaked by the end of it.

so in last couple days have been trying to re arrange what was my office in the shop area, had a mismash of tables set up for the 3d printers and lasers, so whilst out running around in the hot rod one day i came across a gaggle of hollow core interior doors, so i hi tailed it back to the compound grabbed a truck and ran over and loaded the booty up.

it sat on shop patio for a bit, till the motivation kicked in, and now i have a couple cabinets, i'll have to get some pics of the 3d cabt. and post, but here are the doings on the laser cabts,  a friend who comes over to play weekly gave me the idea to put'm on drawer slides so we can you know mess with;'m when they don't function propertly (frankly if i get near them they go up in smoke , literally, i managed to fry the control board on one, still wondering where i went wrong) anyhows, as one pic will show a necessary med kit for the soft hands that seem to attract mother natures needles, whether they be from a mesquite , or ironwood tree, a cactus or just regular ole treated lumber.

have to say, using the doors was simple easy, and free, was gonna do some 5/8'' or 3/4 ply but whew, the price of it is outrageous,

happy days, gonna be a bootiful monday, and warm

Nicely done Rj. Sweet score on the doors. Those root balls are, well, enormous. Looking forward to seeing your creativity from those. Didn't hardly recognize you though with those long britches.

As soon as the vise becomes available, again..

Spent $20+ at Hobby Lobby, today....

My son and grandson showed up with this yesterday. Does anyone know what the jig on the right is used for? There is no name on it just "No. 300"PC311139.JPG.95b19933175196023c50325faed1c7c2.JPG

Yes I do. We had one of those on the shop I grew up in. It is part of a saw blade sharpening jig for steel saw blades.

Looks like a mount for a table saw or circular saw or radial arm blade to sharpen with the thin grinding wheel on the right. The arm lets you adjust for size of the blade and pivot in and out for each tooth.  Stop lets you set the depth into the grinding wheel.  Just a guess though as I've never actually seen one in use.

Yep, I agree with @Masonsailorand @4DThinker; circular saw blade sharpener. I've never seen a dedicated Craftsman sharpening set-up like this. Has to be mid to late 40's to mid 50's.

Obviously the left side is for chisels, plane irons, jointer/planer blades. That fixture was made into at least the late 60's although revamped to attach to newer model Craftsman bench grinders. I have one of those.

Sweet and rare find. Guessing you could replace disc with a diamond version to sharpen carbide tipped blades.

The Craftsman part of it is just a Mandrel, I haven't inspected the motor underneath yet other than firing it up. There were too many things rattling around as the motor wound up so I shut it down pretty quick.

I have another grinder that I plan to mount perpendicular to this one on the left wing and then figure out how to make it mobile without making it too high and tippy.

Thanks for the help

Now that I'm home did a little more digging. The circular saw blade sharpener is a (Foley) Belsaw accessory, Model 300;

I'm pretty sure the sharpener guide attachment on the left side is a Craftsman model though. Looks a lot like my Craftsman. IDK, it may have been made for Craftsman by Belsaw. I'll do some more digging; pretty sure I have a .pdf user manual for it saved on my computer. I'll have to dig deeper into some of my files for the Craftsman mandrel. Probably have a .pdf Craftsman Tool catalog from that era.

Chasing your link to the Vintage Machinery Site I see the baseplate is part of it. I thought it was a random piece of metal with a Craftsman ID plate.

So made by Belsaw for Craftsman

AND on closer inspection, I found the ID plate for the Mandrel

Cool. I noticed yours is the ball bearing version which is a bonus and more desirable IMO. I love the discovery side of old tools. If only they could talk and tell the stories they hold. I'll dig some more on my end too. Looking closer at your Craftsman badge probably places it late 30's to late 40's. Give those boys an extra dozen donuts for this save and recovery. Can't wait to see where you take this restoration. Love it!

If some of us "youngsters" could get together for a weekend and tell our stories, that would be cool too.  Probably never happen though.

Most you all are in the midwest or east coast, another Patriot reunion would be awesome, like the one @Fred W. Hargis Jr had a few years ago. :)

A trip to the east coast would be nice, but probably out of my reach.  I could handle the midwest though.  Who knows?  Nothing is impossible.

Had a really nice, but brief, meeting with @Cal and his wife as he was heading home with his new car. Great to put faces with names!
