January 2, 20242 yr Popular Post I've met a few of my TPW brothers over the years. In no particular order... @Gunny (he's close by) & Mrs. Gunny, @lew, @Smallpatch & Mrs. 'patch and on our first trip to O-HI-O - a great visit with @Ralph Allen Jones. Hey, if any of you are traveling I-75 through middle Georgia - I've a coffee pot and generally here!

January 4, 20242 yr Popular Post Boxing Day Rivet Gun box, Electric Cord box, Haven't Decided Yet box, Dovetail Jig box
January 4, 20242 yr Popular Post Nice work Kevin. As soon as I saw your electrical cord box it reminded me I've got a couple green and orange "cord tites" too somewhere In the garage. Hmmmm?
January 5, 20242 yr Great project to start the new year Kevin. Do the boxes have lids, or do they stack?
January 5, 20242 yr Popular Post Currently, only the Rivet Box has a home. The Cord box will most likely end up in the barn. The Empty one I built just because I built the other one with a tray. Next week I am meeting with a group of artists who are looking to add storage boxes to their workshop, so I'll take it as a sample. The Dovetail box is the problem, I may have to move something else to the barn to make room for it.
January 9, 20242 yr Popular Post as always have a gaggle of projects underway, an associate and i are building him a craftsman style entry door out of african mahogany, glued up some vertical and horizontal stiles, a sample of why one needs so many clamp.s happy monday next is sizing and begin mortising.
January 12, 20242 yr Popular Post I have been commissioned to build 14 storage boxes for a small art gallery out of pallet wood. I made the prototype yesterday and started cutting the pieces today. I figured this was a good opportunity to give my a workout. I need around 200 pieces at 24" and 140ish pieces at 8 1/2" and with the M1 I can make all those cuts in one pass. I can trim the end of the board, cut 2-24" pieces, and cut the remaining short piece to 8 1/2". It's not as fast as using g a 'Stop Block' but I can make all those cuts at once and if there's a bad spot just cut it out and keep moving. Didn't like my video but also won't let me delete it either so I uploaded it to Youtube. https://youtu.be/C39uE3XnJC0 P1121152.MP4 P1121152.MP4 No connections with Reekon.

You didn't. Yours doesn't have the Tractor Supply embroidered emblem. LOTS of cuts. Looks like the Reekon measuring device works pretty slick.
January 13, 20242 yr Not familiar with the Reekon, looks pretty slick. Some of that pallet wood looks pretty darned good! Do they store it inside for you or do you just pick it up on a regular basis?
January 13, 20242 yr Popular Post To be continued.. . Back to making panels...again.. One in the clamps.... Couple more to do...
January 13, 20242 yr Popular Post Today the bench will be loaded with 1/2" BB for several 1/4, 1/4, 1/4 constructed boxes. Getting tired of plastic totes.
January 13, 20242 yr Popular Post at Grandpadave52 the shirt is from TS, I have about 8 of them. Having spent 22 years in the Army and another 22 in the Postal Service I got used to uniforms. at Cal the Reekon has some advantages over a stop block, but there are a few times it's hard to dial in the cut bouncing over and under the mark, but it gives you a lot of flexibility when cutting. It is very nice wood with a few pieces that have damage from the forklift. The last time I collected pallets I picked up about 30 of them and broke down most of them to have some working stock for the winter. I blew through all of that. This is what I have left and I have a pile of hard wood pallets under the tarp.
January 14, 20242 yr Popular Post Working on shooting bench for sons "Ranch" . Scrounged up enough odd sizes of wood (outdoor use type) to build the frame and he bought 3 planks to do the top. Yea I know down and dirty but economical . The cedar actually came from our yard and been in shop over 20 years. I actually ripped some 4x4 left over from fence. Edited January 14, 20242 yr by Gerald
January 14, 20242 yr Popular Post Sweet. Wish I was closer. Love to help break it in, Somehow I'm not much in the mood to shoot outdoors here right now with wind chills near 20 below and 3-4" of snow on. Same rules for firearms as shop tools. If your tongue sticks to the steel, too cold to be using them.
January 15, 20242 yr Popular Post one of many projects under way, next is the 3d printer cabt, attach doors and wire for led lighting and computer stuff, here is the laser cabt, done with exception of the exterior exhaust hookup, go figure i grabbed 5 inch flex pipe instead of 4'' at the home dip joint, silly me, oh well, but five min and its underway, have one awesome laser that fried the main board, am having issues with the chinese supplier on getting correct one, gonna give it one more chop chop and then go for a new one. and door rails and members are basically sized, but can't begin mortising till door owner confirms stain glass window size, so we dont have to design fillers ect. heres hoping he gets it square away asap; my next big projects are three blanket chests, using Pearls design, one in mahogany, cherry, and walnut, and possible a fourth if i can find a deal on qtr sawn white oak. happy monday
