    Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

I am building a gaming table for my son's wedding present.

I will upload drawings when done.

Got the revolving bookcase put together today except the side retainers to allow easier finishing. Didn’t think it would take that long to stain but almost two hours later this is what we have. IMG_0446.jpeg.b8e6f49514765b5e3224e93a4eb93330.jpeg

Gerald, that's really neat but i can't help but wonder how stable it will be once loaded with books.

Very neat @Gerald. Can't help but notice, even when you do flatwork, it still ends up being round.;)

Fantastic, @Gerald! Can't wait to see how the books stay on when the grandkids learn that it spins :throbbinghead:

Not real sure but if necessary I can easily remove the top shelf.

Was not satisfied with the sawtill that I had in my tool chest so I decided to build another one. It's still in progress it's got a lot more shaping to go but I need to let the glue dry first.PXL_20250214_205724561.jpg.c8cd76b37a36f7536679ddc4b318f836.jpgPXL_20250214_205740308.jpg.d8fcccfcc0761eddce8b5f93deceea38.jpgPXL_20250214_205801341.jpg.ded71f943c1c8f3ba58c28e70abba379.jpg

Seeing your outdoor "shop", I'd like to make you aware of something I learned many years when I had a basement shop with no heat.  It's called "chalk temperature."   It's the temperature at which PVA glues, like the Titebond in your photo, turns white after glue  up and does not have full strength.  For most PVA glues it's about 45 to 60 degrees F, depending on the variety.  Not  only does the glue need to be warm, but if you are gluing  up  wood that's 40 degrees, it will cool a thin glue line and cause the problem, too.  Best to do the glue-up when the ambient temperature is above the chalk temp.

(John, is there somewhere to put this information??)

Could always lag bolt it to the floor.  (DARFC - ducking and running for cover)

I like the spinning bookshelf, but would have left the shelves square.  Hold more books that way, and less wood thrown away than when cutting circles out.  Maybe round the outer corners just a bit to remove sharp corners.

@kmealy, thank you.

I always thought if I glued it up and took it back into the house to dry it would be ok. Appreciate the information.

But to be honest, I've glued up necks for guitars in 35 degree weather for going on about 12 years and never had an issue. And the neck takes a great deal of stress. Guess I got lucky, but honestly, If I have to wait for 45 degrees there would be a great deal of time I could not work wood, so I'ii probably keep dong it, lol.

At least if I have an issue I'll know what happened and who to blame. :D
