I've been messing around with more banding.

Next version will be the same diamonds as the one I just did (walnut in a maple field) but alternating walnut and padauk in maple.

Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

No mess there. Really nice. Love the two "diamond" patterns.

Looks like you're getting a good handle on those patterns @JWD, look forward to more:TwoThumbsUp:

That really is fantastic, well done!

A "What did you do in your workshop today?" thread seems a little redundant, so I'll post this here:

Today I put new blades on the 13" Dewalt thickness planer, got at some boards, and put a new 8" 24T blade on the TS and got to some cutting.

Went real well but boy, am I beat!

I use a cordless drill with T30 bit to change planer blades (3) and figured I can remove the two center screws, loosen the other six, and lift the blade cover out with the magnetic T-Handle.  A time saver, with those 24 screws.

Today was finish application day.   A couple coats of tung oil on some 3/8"d walnut and oak dowels, some spray lacquer on 4 wood balls, and some polycrylic (with sanding between coats) on a small table top.  The spray lacquer on my garage shop bench to keep the smell out there.  The tung oil and water based polycrylic in my basement back room shop as neither smells like they'll kill off brain cells.

Workbench today holds the disassembled parts of my rotary axis head.  Chewed up the drive belt trying to do a continuous spiral 3D cut of a table center post.  Found a new belt at McMmaster Carr. Will need a bearing puller to arrive from the jungle store to get the old belt out and put the new belt in.   10 or so screws to take the chuck and rail for the tailstock off the CNC frame.  Hope I can remember where they go and manage to put it all back together.  Clearly this assembly was never design to come apart.

I learned to take lots of pictures with my cell phone. Then I only have to figure out where those pictures went:P

another way-

I got a sheet of that flexible magnet material they print refrigerator stick on promotional materials. I draw the outline of the object and place the screws in the correct orientation with the thing I’m working on. Magnet holds them in place

I like the 71 1/2 you got. I’m eyeing a few of those on ebay as we speak.

Are you saying you have a horse that just randomly walks through your shop?
