Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

Workbench?   Too much clutter.  I guess I'll check Amazon to see if they sell an anti-clutter machine, preferably one that uses Milwaukee batteries. Of course then I'll have one more tool to clutter up my bench.  :(

I think you're missing the main point here 4D...you'll have a new tool.;)

Workbench now is accumulation the hardware and wood I'll need for my next project. Essentially a coffee table with a top and a shelf 2.5" below it.  The hope is to have it so you can push the 14" deep top away from you 7" and as it slides back the 14" deep shelf will slide forward 7", exposing the full area of the shelf.   The table will always remain balance over the side legs.  I parked the more challenging version of this idea away for a later pursuit, and that was that the top and shelf  would rotate around to become level and butted next to each other.

My workbench has been silent for a bit. Either too cold, or too wet to work. And I build mostly with reclaimed wood for a reason.

I have plans to build a small bookcase for my commentaries and other helps (Preacher), as soon as the Lord blesses me with the wood with which to do it. I'll certainly do a build thread on that when the time comes.

My next rehab is a 1950 Walker Turner 10"Table Saw.

I got most of the sticky stuff off the top today but it will set for awhile as I don't have 220 in the barn yet.468986201_10231274290713329_9013960175163473584_n.jpg.57fc471bae6ee46ec6df44d0fd1a6144.jpg468915375_10231274290393321_8176306140410592950_n.jpg.8a29a5640b897e8afc313d6ae6ef7ff3.jpg

I've got enough clamps, just not enough bench space or wood to use them all at the same time. ;) Thanks to clamps, any type, being 1st on my "what do you want for Christmas (or Birthday) or as a wedding/anniversary gift, etc., for the last 5 decades.  Closest source of a variety of hardwoods closed up last yet. Owner retired and no one bought the business to keep it running.  :(

Boooooo. Happened to me about 5 or 6 years ago.

Difficult to deal with.

@4DThinker, are you aware of this guy? https://www.friedenlumber.com/

I don't think he is too far from you. I haven't been there in awhile, but when I was, he had a great selection of hardwoods. Easy to work with too.

Hadn't heard of him and thanks for that link.  When I taught we went from a source in Kansas City (Paxton Lumber) which eventually closed to one in Silver Lake KS. which is now closed. Both delivered if we needed at minimum $500 worth.  I don't know where the program I taught at is getting hardwoods from but suspect they've found him by now, or students are buying from online sources or the limited shrink wrapped hardwoods the local Menards keeps in stock.  My persisting obsession to make stuff tries to limit itself to using whatever I have in my garage.  Might tell android auto in my pickup to take me to that place though.  Just to fill up the bed with a variety of boards I can stare at and reform into projects for the next few years.

Cherry side panels for my coffee table project are the current occupiers of my bench spaces.   One side done, surfaced flat and trimmed square.

Sidepanel1.jpg.c9f8ac1e428221e90dcbe71c119d551c.jpg

The other side still being glued up strip by strip.

Glueup1.jpg.75433ab77bd84ba6e11d525e89bfe3aa.jpgGlueup2.jpg.242d42234f26644f1a595f773c90ced0.jpgGlueup3.jpg.c4183cde83c2ffd13b34bf6a0eb8c6fc.jpgGlueup4.jpg.259e95b1c021193fcdbdf82ab5015ba6.jpg

Best strategy I've found when I've got 6/4" thick boards and need 7/8" thick side panels it to rip and tip, then glue back together.  I rip strips 15/16" thick to account for some slippage when gluing up.  So far that works out to end up with a 7/8" thick panel.

Last thing off my CNC a few minutes ago:

Paracordwheels.jpg.c25d1e13d244cef864834fa8341f7d3c.jpg

Cut the circles and the pockets for the bearings flat on my CNC.  2-sided job as there are bearings on both sides.  Then I cut the grooves for paracord to wrap around on the rotary axis of my CNC.  These will screw into threaded inserts on the center of inside faces of the table sides. 4mm diameter paracord arrived today and is a good fit in the grooves.

Whenever you think you have enough is when you usually buy more. Lol
