Gotcha, I still like the idea of horses wandering around the shop though.

Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

DVDCaseDoorglueupclamps.jpg.6a413d34799b54f7276ab6455588ab34.jpg

Just wasn't enough room for it...all glued up and clamped down...waiting on the shop to dry out..

Last thunder storm last night, was a gully washer...The Dungeon Creek did rise up..

These past few days I've been burnishing my card scraper refurbishment skills. Cleaning down to steel with abrasives, filing square, and doing the burrs fairly carefully. Only one scraper per session. Very pleased with the results when doing the work more mindfully.

The Bahco are easy to work, and the Lie Nielsen are a harder steel - they are what got me to spend more time on why I'm having a hard time working with them. The upside, when a high carbon steel scraper had a nice burr on it, it'll stay there longer than on a medium-carbon steel scraper

On the bench, some old growth fir and longleaf. Ready for the table saw after a few runs through the DW735 planer. And I hit a drywall screw on a 150 year old piece of wood - newer blades ... Dang!

I'm allergic to the fir; can't wait to be done with it.

Some magnificent grain Jim. One of the downsides of working with reclaimed materials is the risk of unseen nails or screws. Do you use a hand held metal scanner/ wand before planing?

I bought one of THESE some time ago. Hasn't failed me yet, although I've probably used it more to find dropped hardware in the yard or drive-way. There are other and more expensive models out there if one is so inclined.

I want one but use a magnet.

The piece with the screw was a skin from a beam I harvested two years ago; I saved it and forgot about the missed metal.

No huge foul, I've developed a method for flipping blades which speeds up the process. So far I've been planing off to the side. After my next bigger glueup, I'll want the whole 12"-13", so it works for now.

More thought went into it than actual bench time :WonderScratch: :OldManSmiley:

Pic. No. 2 & 3:  The reclaimed-timber sawmill owner's daughter gave me a scrap off their saw table deck (it's a huge table that moves the wood into its 12" blade) smaller than forearm-to-fingertip. It sat among others in my wine crate storage tower until getting resawn into a stack of tiny slats. The bottom plank is 13 pieces, joined, planed, scraped. Then crosscut quarce (thrice plus one).

One of the more useless items I've fashioned, it's scoring high on translucency points.

Here's an action shot I call "Hatagane Clamps In Action" ... The Zona square is just for show
