May 12, 20233 yr Popular Post I worked on another Craftsman table saw. I cross-cut a 3" piece of hardwood with no problem but bogs down ripping a 3/4" piece of pine and everything looks fine with the fence it's +1/64th on the outfeed end and the blade is parallel to the tacks.
May 12, 20233 yr Popular Post My old Craftsman that looked just like your photos would do fine using a thin sharp blade for most cuts. Mine was a hand-me-down from an Uncle, and now is in the hands of a Niece of mine. Served me well while I had it. 4D
May 12, 20233 yr Popular Post I have one in the basement, a large one in the barn and this one is going to my son who is bringing back my first TS that I'llrebuild to give to my grandson: all Craftsman.
May 12, 20233 yr Popular Post My first table saw was a Craftsman. Never liked the how fence would line up. I installed a Biesmeyer fence and loved it. When I bought my Jet TS I installed the Biesmeyer fence on it and put the original fence back on the Craftsman .Sold the Jet fence which was a nice fence too.
May 12, 20233 yr Popular Post I'll agree about the fence mine had. Learned to shove it snug up to the table before locking it. By the time I gave it to my brother in law I was using a folded piece of cardboard to shim the end as otherwise it wouldn't get tight enough. Warned my B.I.L. about that and figured since he was an engineer he might be able to fix it, or as it was free to him he could pop for a replacement 3rd party fence.
May 12, 20233 yr Popular Post I put a Vega fence on the first saw I rebuilt, the last two saws I found had the rack adjuster knob on the fence that I like a lot, except for the fact I always turn it in the wrong direction.

May 25, 20233 yr Popular Post What's on my workbench? Not what you'd expect. I was moving some things out for disposal and one was a plastic bottle of dandelion killer concentrate. It slipped out of my hand and hit my work desk. The lid popped off when it hit and splattered on one corner, as well as on my hands. As a Viet vet with agent orange damage, I ran into the house to rinse and wash ASAP. I opened all the doors and did a cleanup with fans blowing, with all my PPE. I then removed the dest top and tossed it. I cleaned up (with protection) all that I could see and installed 3 fans to push and move all the air in the garage thru the open double door. The next day I repeated the whole clean up procedure. The fans still running. When the odor was gone, I installed a new plywood desk top. Next I had a super sensitive odor detector(wife) inspect after the garage was closed up and no fans running. (She can detect odors a mile away) I got the "all clear" and am back in my shop. I still have all doors open, as usual this time of the year.

Nice looking load of pallets Kevin, Rembering a post you made some time ago about a Craftsman saw you were repaireing You said it bogged down when making a 3/4" rip cut. Have you tried using a thin kerf blade for ripping, Used them on my old craftsman because of the lower power. Never had any issues with them.
June 3, 20233 yr Popular Post I've been to my buddy Bill Smith's bag and horn shop a few times lately...here's some random workbench pics.
