About 30 horns flattened yesterday at Bill's shop.

 

 

Second attempt at building a portable Work Bench. On the first try, I tried to make it out of hardwood but it was way too heavy, This attempt I'm going with softwood.

Work in progress..

Now have one of the doors installed..

Second door will be tomorrow...

And the two become one.

Both pieces were Jointed and planned and are now in the final glue-up.

Time to clean the shop, too many trip-hazards

Busy top of the bench, right now..

Dry fit going on, too..

Seems like these took forever. They look blotched because I just wiped them with MS looking for glue spots. On to finishing. A tip for anyone contemplating these, the paperbox box tissues come in are all not the same size across brands. That's why I had to make those square ones on the right. My first ones fit a Puffs box, then Puffs changed sizes...and then I found out the Kleenex were about 1/8" bigger than the smaller Puffs. The rectangular ones fit the Kleenex 160 size (maybe it's 144 now); the only one we buy in that configuration.

Worth the wait Fred. All cool. Really like the spalted maple? one. Very unique. Glad you're getting some shop time in.

If you refer to the one on the lower right, it's actually (I was told) curly ash. I'd never seen anything like it before and had one board gifted to me by a guy who was selling me some cherry. It was a good sized board, but he had cut into 3 pieces thinking he had it sold to another individual.

Spokeshaves getting put to work...

Jointer at work...

then a smoother (same plane, too)..

Had 2 stopped mortises to chop...

Needed to make 8 cauls, and test the fit...

And..pre-set the clamps...

Anyone want to stop by and help with the glue up?

So...sitting on the bench, today...

2 back legs...and blanks for one of the front legs....

As the other front leg is sitting in the clamps.....
