What's On Your Work Bench?

Two of my Random Orbital Sanders quit working a while ago. They lost power and jumped around when a load was put on them. Well, yesterday the the backup to the backup ROS started flinging disks around the shop, and as luck would have it the last time that happened and I bought a new pad I was Ss'Mart enough to purchase a spare. I even found it without a lot of searching. So after that repair, I figured I'd push my luck and try fixing the other two. I did a search for "No power, hopping ROS" and read a post from a guy with the same problem who cracked it open, cleaned everything, put it together, and Whal-la it worked. It worked for me too. The second one was even easier, pull the pad and then pull out the bearing, lube, and replace.

So I'm back to three fuctionating ROS.

Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

This may be the first cutting board I've seen using red oak.  As porous as red oak is, is this a good wood for a cutting board?

I thought of that, I used about 10 or so coats of Tung oil, the more I used the shinier and more sealed it got.  I will check it so see if it is sealed properly and if not, it will make a nice conversation piece.

Been working on a little antler repair for a buddy...built the short side a few weeks ago. Got the long side together today. I'll smooth out any seams or add any character needed next session. After that I'll start adding color.

Nice job. Is the repair "Bondo" or some other medium?

Well now, after a long summer with lack of shop time., i and the ole gal got back into shop yesterday, i've started the long awaited fancy wood screen door for the front door i build a decade or so ago, sure didn't wanna get in a hurry.

used my domino for first time, and well lets say, when one does not view vids or instructions, it becomes difficult, hehe, yip, i'm one of those guys, destructions mean nada. anyhowz, little tedious issues, but over came them, then discovered on half way glue up, my glue was fubared, guess the summer in shop turned it to sludge, so, managed to find a bottle in house and got thru the glue up, it was a tad old also, but alas, we'll see today.

I'll try and get some picture of the thing and get posted,

friend bought a saw mill, so am tutoring him on how to move sizable logs, he was surprised i had a trailer that could be set up to move logs, hehe, i get around you know..

happy thursday, just glad to be here

And hang it on a post in the shop....not much else will be going on, for now...

I had one of those but never used it a lot. I gave it to my future son-in-law. My shop is too small for things that don't get used. It's a nice piece.

Glad you and the truck are OK. Don't you just hate it when things fall out of the clear blue? :P Looks like it really "stuck" the landing though.;)

Very cool  ;) ...is that pallet lumber?  Nice looking hound too

  • Popular Post

Yes it is all Pallet Wood.

The three light stacks are Spruce or Fir and the reddish stack is a mix of Hardwoods.

My brewer sold all these boxes plus an additional 7 boxes. I have another 10 boxes for next month that just need a finish put on them.

  • Popular Post

Those boxes looked to me like they were unfinished, Kevin. What did you put on them?

  • Popular Post

A mix of BLO, MS, and a little stain.
