I feel ya, got a few planes myself and had to make a space for them from nowhere. Well worth it though!!

June 14, 20205 yr Popular Post Yeah, ..................below is a picture of @steven newman on the right, see that expression? That will be exactly how he looks at me and ask why is your arm broke???
July 23, 20205 yr Popular Post Its been a long time since I submitted my workbench. I do have other benches, but this is my primary work area for ornaments and small projects. I have half of a 2 car garage and that isn't much to work with. I don't know if you can see what is on my bench, but I just bought a 0-40 vdc in/ 5.0 vdc USB out with LED input voltage. I soldered some wires on it. I checked it out and it works great.
August 4, 20205 yr Popular Post Might find a bench, before too much longer.... If I can get that box out of the way... Kind of takes up too much space..
August 12, 20205 yr Popular Post The same thing that's been on my bench for a while ,...and will be for a bit longer. That's ok...it's slowly but surely getting there. The limbs to the right of my thumb are getting down to about all I can do with them. I don't like the black highlights in the leaves,..that'll disappear sometime down the road.
August 12, 20205 yr Popular Post ,.and it's not technically a bench. It's my freezer that doubles as a place to put one of my antler/horn/bone piles,....material for future projects.
August 14, 20205 yr I love the design. Are the back slats doweled? I like the use of two thinner slats in the middle of each side of the back. It is one of those small design features that make projects distinctive. I have a suggestion since this is the prototype. If his is for exterior use be sure to prime and paint the seat and back slats before you make the final assembly even if you attach them with dowels. Getting paint even between slats is a real pain. I would dowel them and then repaint the surfaces. You are obviously much more experienced than I am but I would rather suggest something you already know than not suggest something you may have over looked. Great looking chair. You may have given me an idea for a future project. Good job.
August 14, 20205 yr Popular Post I see a lot of pictures that have multitudes of hand planes. I will confess. I have a couple but I cannot, no matter how I try get them to work for me. I see guys rolling out long even curled and paper thing shavings and it just seems magical to me. I have never used a plane on a single project. All great woodworkers seem to make what I have spent long frustrating hours of effort failing to do look easy a tripping over a rake. I am going in the house and pouring a double of Balvieni Portwood just to ease the brought to the fore failure.

Bumped into a guy who offered to help look at my technique and maybe find a work around. Little different way to hold the plane and once again I can use them. Just not for long periods of time. See if you can find someone local to get hands on training.
August 14, 20205 yr Popular Post I gotta post something different... Not so much in wood but lots of metal parts. Each part was on my work bench during the build but I don't think I have much good in pictures while it was on my bench. This will be used for moving wood projects around. Was gas... Now total electric... 36v forklift parts.
August 14, 20205 yr Popular Post Just out rust hunting today....been doing rehabs at the bench. Trying to get a few "dull" hand planes sharpened back up.... Junglejohn....bring a plane up here to Bellefontaine....and we'll see what happens... I just got that Millers Falls sharpened back up.

Just tell me when and where and I will be there with bells on. I have a couple planes but all I use them for is as weights to keep craft paper from rolling up.

The guy who led it said all all the 400 planes or so he owned, none worked all that well until he tuned and sharpened them.
