I saw your picture and wondered if I could add some flair to some of my own projects. My Mother is always on me about giving her ideas for Christmas and birthday gifts for me. (I never say) Might float this one out there with the idea she might have some use for it as well. Edited December 4, 20196 yr by Woodbutcherbynight

Built it years ago during a time when I was building custom work benches for woodworking to sell. The one I kept was what you might call my prototype. The whole thing is laminated Southern Yellow Pine. Over the years, I’ve often wished I had made it 10’ long instead of 8’. Though it’s not often I need to work a board that long, it does happen on occasion. I’ve squirreled away some 12’ long x 8-10” wide 12/4 maple for a bigger bench but just haven’t had time to build the thing. Maybe this spring? Edited December 4, 20196 yr by Adam Welker

December 21, 20196 yr Starting on a combo electric Generator/motor. I will use walnut, Maple, White Pine, Hemlock, Oak, Cherry, Cotinus Coggygria, Ceder and Ash in this build.
December 21, 20196 yr Popular Post Might be able to cobble something up from these two piles....0.445" thick on the left...0.290" on the right......would be nice IF the shop was a bit warmer... Box sides?
December 21, 20196 yr Popular Post A machinist tool box. Would look great in my shop. No requests on finish.
December 21, 20196 yr Popular Post Well, not too sure about THAT, but.... There is a lid glued up...and.. Some of these done...even a test fit .. long sides are 11" , ends are 6-1/2" long...ends need fingers made...had a lot of this sort of thing to do.. And the Mitersaw was working.. The cordless one, of course. 2-1/2 hours IN the shop...plumb worn out...
January 14, 20206 yr At 1000 hrs this morning... A bloody mess....cleared the "deck" for action.. Thought I had the wrong saw....Disston D-8, 11ppi.....but, it seemed to work better than the Atkins.. So..I make a pile of sawdust...and an hour or so later.. Bench has filled back up...again...one of them days..

January 14, 20206 yr Like your work bench John. The forever plot plans look great. I call them forever plans because it takes the town forever to approve them here. Takes more time to get the plans approved that it does to build it. Money down the drain.

Not much progress. Taxes go up though.

Takes more time to get the plans approved that it does to build it. Money down the drain. Al, I performed the preliminary survey for this bridge project, back in 2004. I put the first stake in summer 2017. 13 years it took to clear planning, environmental, right of way acquisitions and more. These major interstate projects take a looooong time to get built. By the time I pound the first stake in, the population center has grown from it's projected growth and the road is already out dated to handle the traffic it was originally engineered for. Hey, I got a job though!
