well since i expect to have some shop time this week, here is what i've been at since sunday pm, when i get some time in, some drawer units for the router bits for the new to me router table, have bits in a couple plastic bins, and sorting thru'm is making me talk in tongues, so... hopefully pic shows up

and one will notice that the drawer that is cut looks funny and it should as the ''brain surgeon'' that i am, managed to make drawer 2 inches too long, how that happened is the '' great wood working mystery of the week'', so wacked that sucker to actual required length, speaking of out worldly tongue lanquage and off we went to assemble the ''fix'' . i did complete both drawers and got the drilling done for the half inch router bits, this will be on one side and qtr inch on other size, with a junk drawer, you know the one you throw crap in , and forget about it till the end of time.

happy tuesday,

Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

well got some marching orders, and the next major project is to build a knotty alder screen door for the front area, she wants it to match the front door sorta, she priced one from a vendor and well you know the rest, as i had a gaggle of alder 5/4, thats really dry and quite attractive, thinking i'll work up a dwg and begin the process, gotta round up some screen spline, i want to do copper screen but i'm getting push back from the big cheese, we'll see who gets the slice. lol.

still have to finish the router drawers.

spent half the day delivering and setting up a truck and my dump trailer for a friend who lost about 40 ft of block wall in last nites store, took him some temp fence panels so they could secure his yard, has a pool and is next to canal, with lotsa traffic, fence fell on his pool equipment, i advised him to turn pump off but did'nt when i got there pool was pumping water and was half empty. lol

anyhowz happy tuesday, may the sun set well

One Limbert table with mesquite round on the bench. Just checking for the fit. Looks good. Now to dress the mesquite. Several hours for that. 20221011_101617.jpg.31bf92eb2abfbae7b0955266a5383b28.jpg

Awesome Gene. That mesquite round looks pretty hefty. Careful lifting that on/off the base.

Looking forward to seeing this completed with the finish.

Nah, it ain't too heavy. But, don't drop it on your toes!

I'm  looking forward to seeing it and, the other two, finished, as well.

Started dressing the first of 3 mesquite rounds. A laborious and time consuming job. Chisles, rasps, wire burshes, belt sanders and, whtever else it takes to remove the outer layer of mesquite bark. Then, applications of CA to firm up the punky areas. Sanding is next. Epoxy resin will be the finish. Black (maybe blue...heck, maybe red:rolleyes:, who knows?) to fill voids as necessary. Bar Top clear to coat for the final finish.

well was out on west side and came across a sign for some live edge slabs. managed to grab a almost dozen of nice peaces, some mesquite and acacia and a pc of eucalyptus, see how that goes,

finally got a longer cutting router bit for the up cut router bit all mine would only do almost 7/8'' so went for an 1.5 inch see if that fills the need.

no work on screen door, have a friend to help out tomorrow. and then back on door.

gonna have to plane down all pcs a bit, glued up panels had some issues, so, door will get thinner by almost an eight, and its okay still be a full inch or more.

layout almost done on door styles, hoping i can find the half inch mortise bit for mortiser, if not, its quarter and some choice words to share.

happy monday, just glad to be here.

Hey Ric. If you are interested in mesquite, pistachio and eucalyptus, try Dead Tree Salvage at 11930 W. Martin rd. Casa Grande. It's all rough sawn but the prices are good. Around $5 a BF

Working on small light stuff.  Ditched a couple bulky heavy items to a hippy vendor over the weekend CHEAP. Sold off a lot of inventory to clear it out and move on, cretively.

Doing light trinket trays and sun-catchers, thinking ahead to how they store and transport - I'm a walk-in, walk-out casual vendor.

Want to make another mockup of a split-top-slats on split bases display mini-bench ... without the glue showing  Amazing, how a gal spied this one piece on Saturday, said it reminded her of -something-, and had to have it. Yes, it was 'included' with a rather nice sun-catcher / tray, a full 5" square 1/8" cross-cut slice of longleaf pine, perimeter reinforced with thin stock. Designed for flat, free-standing, or hanging.

Yeah, John Goodwin. He's always got some project going. Does some intersting stuff with resin, too.

The wife's bro. from IL is a turner. He and wife stay with us for a spell in Jan-feb each year. Last trip, he grabbed some pistachio root balls from John. One, he trimmed up to fit in a 6" funace flue, stuck it in, taped up one end and, poured it full of red resin. He turned a beautiful vase from that. It now sits proudly in our TV room.

Very Nice looking pieces Jim. Creative pieces of art. The grain in that pine is gorgeous.
