Yours will be similar to the one "Norm" made years ago. I loved the design and also love walnut. My wife, not so much. I gave it to a friend.

Oh wood is walnut and my favorite part is the spindle hiding in that 4x4Off to a great start Rusty. Some mighty nice looking walnut you have there too. Love your vision. Following along. Keep the pictures coming please.
February 27Feb 27 Popular Post That's a really nice table, Lew. Whoever got appreciates it I'm sure. I'm looking forward to seeing Rusty's finished table.

February 27Feb 27 Popular Post I like Satin walnut, often known as "red gum" or "sweet gum" over any walnut. And when it comes to walnut I prefer English Walnut over Black Walnut.

March 1Mar 1 Popular Post Well look what i found hidden in that 4by4. Now the part i dread, the sliding dovetail. Cross your fingers for me
March 1Mar 1 My best result were to cut the dovetail slots into the sides of the 4x4 before turning it round. You might try screwing/hot gluing a plywood square on the top end to keep the post registered when cutting the dovetail slots. 4D
March 2Mar 2 Lew thanks for the video, I'll probably use some of those ideas, also found an article by Earnie Conover in an old issue of Woodworkers Journal that's about the same. Grandpa Dave 52 thanks for the suggestion but my lathe has indexing so by using a box jig for the router, problem solved. More coming 😁

March 2Mar 2 Popular Post I wasn't that crazy about Woodworkers Journal when it was being published, but Ernie's monthly article was always interesting...one of the few reasons I kept subscribing.
March 2Mar 2 Popular Post When i started down this slippery slope i read everything Allen Lacer wrote for Americanwoodworker, the only mag i subscribed to at the time, and no i still can't use a skew, DARN evil thing. Fred I completely agree about Woodworkers Journal obviously great minds think alike
