Just discussed this with my husband and we are going with paint. Seems a bit easier and I'm turning that over to him so I can start on the face frame and door.
December 28, 2025Dec 28 Popular Post Finally got the mantle finished and mounted. Guess the rods were not quite parallel as I had to drill out the holes and then cut the e all thread to length. About 2.5 inches thick to give a country look. Who knows she may want addition in the future.

December 29, 2025Dec 29 Popular Post My neighbor gave me a 10" Homecraft bandsaw, owning 2 already is not a reason to turn down a 3rd. I decided to rebuild it then give it to my son. I ordered a POWERTEC 120V Single Phase On/Off Magnetic Paddle Switch, New tires, Link belts, 3 blades, and bought a can of gray paint. Yesterday I clean it up, and today started the rebuild. The tires went on easies then I remembered. The linked belt and the switch went on with no problems. Then it went south with the blade. It took several tries to get the saw to track correctly. I still have to paint the housings and a couple of other parts, but it cuts very nicely.

December 30, 2025Dec 30 Popular Post Looks great! I've got three band saws. Two have dust collector ports on them. My Jet floor model looks much like that one and it's only flaw is no dust collection. Something like that would be a nice upgrade to those old models. 4D Edited December 30, 2025Dec 30 by 4DThinker
December 31, 2025Dec 31 Popular Post I had a spot on one of my 3 maple euro boards I missed with the router. I got set up outside for a minute today to run back over it. While I was out there I hit the burrs with an orbit sander and gave them a once over with a 1/2 worn pad. I'm not big on electric sanders for most of my projects, I use belt sanders at times when necessary but for most of my stuff I enjoy hand sanding. Anyway, after getting back in the shop I started cleaning up my edges to get ready for final sanding. The edge has a slight line where the slope ends that is a little harsh. I want more of a gentle roll. So, I began filing that out and sanding out rasps marks from previous sessions.
December 31, 2025Dec 31 Popular Post When the shop temp is too cold, my office floor works fine for the buggy box (aka buggy barn) door assembly and glueup. And my husband was happy (and likely a bit surprised) that I didn't spill glue...that I know of. 😉

January 1Jan 1 Popular Post A spell in the hospital and an angioplasty with a stint emplacement has put me somewhat behind on winter projects. I want to complete a whirly-gig for our barber/hairdresser. Does anyone know of a pattern for something barber themed? Happy Holidays! Chris Weinreich NW Iowa
