January 28, 20224 yr Popular Post Thanks, I sold off all my specialty planes about 12 years ago and stuck with just the Benches. There was about as much chance of me making molding with one of them as there is of me flatting a board with the ones I still have, but every once in a while they do come in handy.
January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post Nice job ! I thought Steven had collected and restored all the planes out there.
January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post @frenchwwr nice restoration. Now as to those dusty planes I could make a good home for them , just let me know
January 29, 20224 yr Popular Post Thanks Gerald I was SO concerned they would never have a good home. No one has ever made such a gracious offer.
February 4, 20224 yr Popular Post My daughter's neighbor had a chair that fell backward and broke the back. I got the repair job. A bit more difficult because I couldn't remove the caning and there was a screw inside that kind of held it together. Some gluing, some texturing, toners to restore the color. I think I got an OK fix.
February 4, 20224 yr Popular Post Our son's vanity is about ready to leave the shop. Got the doors made and the drawer fronts glued up, yesterday. Today, the clamps come off and he can take it all home, where he'll do the final fitting. Doors and drawers are all inset. What a PITA this job has been! But, it's been fun working along side him. It's been a learning experience for us both. Other than working with Phyl, this is the first time I've had anyone working with me. For all the work and effort he and his family have done for us since we've moved down here, this vanity job is darned small compensation. Edited February 4, 20224 yr by Gene Howe

February 9, 20224 yr Popular Post Building inserts for a metal file cabinet's drawers. Gonna go under Frank's router table extension and hold the tools and accessories he needs. I'll finally get it all off the floor and out of the plastic tubs where it's lived since the move. Next job is to make a place to hold plywood. I reserved a 6' wide area, anticipating 5X5 sheets of BB. Right now, that area is full of that crappy plywood scraps left from the vanity build. I don't know what to do with that stuff. Hate to burn it but, I can't see any use for it.
