I'm restoring an old Craftsman lathe and I have a few questions about lubing the motor. It's a Craftsman model # 113.12790 electric motor (see the first picture for details from the spec plate). There are two oil ports, one on each end. I lubed the first one and all seemed fine. I then lubed the second port and discovered oil leaking out. I found a grainy picture of the parts diagram on Sears Parts Direct (second picture). However, I'm not sure what part to replace to stop the leak. Pictures 3 and 4 are of the leaking end. Does anyone know how to prevent this oil leak? I'm at a standstill with this project until I can reassemble the motor.

Continuing to set up my new small shop. I previously had two table saws with a router extension wings and I always liked the idea. Not wanting to spend $$, I found this plan... https://www.woodworkersjournal.com/make-router-table-extension-table-saw/ I did modify it in a couple of small ways - I had no laminate scraps (you always need whatever you recently discarded), so I used some 1/4" ply with several coats of poly. And I already had the DC set up with a 4" hose, so I just used that size connector (powertec on Amazon.) Anyway, here's the result...

I'm trying to get all of my machines to connect to my DC system, using fittings I already have. For my router table, I have a fitting that's probably within 1/32" of sliding onto the fence port. The fence port is plenty thick and should give me enough room to shave it down without worry. The question is, how do I shave it down evenly in a consistent manner? The other option is to shave down the inside of the fitting itself. Anyone have any ideas about how to go about doing this? Router table port: Fitting:

After many years of having power saws, I'm finally getting around to cleaning the blades. To say this was overdue would be the understatement of the year. I looked at many options. Multiple people suggested a 5 gal. bucket lid and a heavy degreaser. Unfortunately, all of the bucket lids I looked at had slots in the sides of the lid. None of them appeared to be able to hold a cleaning solution. I then looked at the giant collapsible rubber cleaning tray by Wood River. It's around $40 once you include shipping. Finally, was the giant collapsible rubber cleaning tray from Sili. Amazon was out of stock, so I did a search to see if it was available anywhere else. Peachtree Woo…

I have a GE motor that was on a Saw Smith RAS built in 1959/1960. I've taken apart the motor housing to clean and service it. What type of grease should I use for the motor shaft bearing and at the other end of the housing? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone here have any experience with ToolKraft shapers? Someone near me has one that needs some work, but it's only $50. Parts are still available for them from what I've found online. I also read that ToolKraft made machines for a number of companies, but I'm wondering if they were decent machines or something to stay away from? Any thoughts?

Hello gents. I keep meaning to get back on here and see what's being talked about — found something the other day and thought I'd post it here. (Do tell me if there's a better section/sub-forum here for this sort of thing.) Something I've been hoping to unearth for a long time. Practical demonstration wrapped in pure nostalgia. Hope you guys enjoy watching it as much as I do. Here's the notes I wrote over on YouTube: ... and I can't decide what's cooler — that "DeWalt Custom Cut Lumber" shop coat, or the teardrop RAS automobile trailer at the end. — David

I think Gene Howe will remember a Texas Bandsaw...that Gary gave me a long time ago....well. the current motor has started having "Issues".. and will need replaced.. IF you can get the breaker in the motor to not only reset, but STAY that way..it might run for a while....but.the next time you try to start it up...run, CLICK..DOA for the day So...the hard part will be getting this motor out...last time, I needed a floor jack... I do have a "spare".. That will need cleaned up and oiled up...test drive? If you didn't have your foot on top of the motor, you'd never know it was running....nice and very quiet... …

Just a quick little comment here. I love perusing the Facebook Classifieds, I never buy anything, but it's fun, I guess what I'm doing is yard sale hopping from my arm chair, anyway it occupies about a half hour of my day, I like to see old trucks for sale, antique furnishings, and during my perusing I have noticed that woodworking machinery seems to be tanking, the values. If there is a time to get into woodworking and anyone wants to out fit a shop with second hand, at least here on the left coast, the values are pretty danged low. I'm seeing quality Delta and Powermatic table saws for 5 or 600 bucks, and other machinery at a 1/2 or less of what they were boug…

A carving board for SWMBO has been on hold forever. I couldn't get it to lie flat without rocking. I'd been watching several models of router sleds and took the plunge this summer. Model 3002 is their smallest for full size routers. I also ordered their recommended bit. Total cost under $400. For me, this is a very good product. The price is reasonable and it does what they say it will do. I didn't have to use their customer service line, but reviewers have left positive comments. The directions for assembly are clear and straightforward. They stress to use this on a flat surface, so I used my table saw table. This model will handle proj…

Hi all running into a problem where I am milling up some lumber from logs" 12" high max. When cutting the logs the bandsaw deflects toward the inside. As I travel down the log it appears to get worse. What causes such an issue. Across the face I am probably out of flat by 3/4" in the middle. The tension on the saw is at or above the 3/4" mark which is what the blade is. Why is it doing this?

Need Help, not sure if this is the right forum, so please move if not. My daughter was given a large shopping bag full of drums for a drum or spindle sander, thought I could use them. This bag has everything from 1"x2" to 3"x3" all from Klingspor. I do not have a spingle/drum sander (not at this point). I am not familiar with them, do they have interchangeable drums? can you get drums to fit on a router? Educate me.

A friend of mine is asking for help to rotate the cutters on his helical head Powermatic jointer. I knows that a 300 lb gorilla originally tightened the screws. He is asking if he can use his impact driver to help break the screws loose. What say you? Thanks in advance for you replies. Danl
