Anyone remember when these were the rage?  One for sale here for $20

I had one.  It served me for a long time.  I had the router extension which was a nice feature.   Looks like a great buy for a beginning ww.

Heck ya, that's an excellent deal for anyone I'd imagine! Those were and are good saws. Definitely the perfect saw for the beginner on a budget.

My brother has one. Says the drawback is making common jigs. There are no bar slots.

I had one a long time ago. Couldn't get the darn thing to cut @ 90 degrees no matter how much I adjusted it. Drove me madder than I am.

Router wing/table was a gem though. Portability was also nice. Decibels was high with the universal motor.

Sold it for $300(???)

Memories!!!

IIRC, Ryobi branded a near identical saw for Sears-Craftsman too.

So did you buy it Keith?;)

It seems that no miter gage slots would be a big negative. At least it would be for me

It has a sliding table side that would resolve that issue

IIRC it also had a dedicated miter slot table/wing.

The BT 3000 was similar to the BT3100 & the Sears clone.

A friend had the Sears clone and was very happy with it. He had it on a scissors lift that is similar to the lifts currently under job site saws.

The sliding table side surely does help but as @HandyDan noted, making jigs for the saw would be a problem.  But hey.,for $20.00, such a deal.

Maybe that's why its popularity declined.  I'm a big crosscut table fan, I probably have 5 or 6 of them and if I'm not using one, I'm ripping.
