  1. Hope all of our turners have heat and electricity. Looks like we are due for another dusting here in south central PA. Our Patriot Turners- @Gerald spent some time cleaning up around his lathe and sorting out drawer contents. That's something I know needs done in my shop a sediment shared by our members. @Ron Altier has been working on a couple of projects. He spent time modifying some canes he made. These are beauties!   2. Cleaning a varnish brush, three steps. 1. Wipe off excess on a rag or paper towel 2. Use the three-jar (or two-jar) method. * The first jar (labelled III (or II)) contains the previously used mineral spirits / paint thinner. Dip in the brush and slosh it around. Take it out and wipe it off on a rag. * Repeat the process with the remaining jar(s). * Put a lid on the jars and save them for next time. * When the first jar becomes full of crud, pour off any clear on top into the next jar.   3. When glueing, do you use anything to keep glue off the clamps? Can I use a spray, like Pam cooking spray or dry teflon spray? What about using a bar of soap? I don't want anything that will penetrate the wood. I've heard that some use wax paper, but I think that would be bothersome.
  4. Crept out to my shop today and found a corner that was hiding out in the last go round with my shop clean up last weekend. Slowly but surely I am digging out. And getting my shop ready for production once again. I am getting anxious to say the least, but I have had to clean, and perform deferred maintenance on my machines and hand tools. Reminds me of what John Moody went through a short time ago. I went through my magazine collection and I have them sorted by publisher. Next I'll get the ones I want sorted by date and I'll get them in some binders or on a shelf. But for now I am donating
