March 21, 20233 yr Those are beautiful @RustyFN What are the particulars on them? I cannot decide if that first one is a burl or a cast resin blank that you turned!

March 22, 20233 yr Popular Post Built a new knock-out bar and added a handle to the headstock swivel tommy bar. The OEM knock-out bar was too short and very light for the intended purpose. The new one is 2" longer and made of 5/16" SS. Walnut, danish oil. .40
March 22, 20233 yr Popular Post Didn't quite make it to the late, but waiting their turn on the bandsaw. Mimi said some of the "priceless turning materials" had to be cleaned up from behind the shed. These were cut from a large piece of Chinese elm that was in our back yard. Not sure what the half log species is, maybe cotton wood.

March 30, 20233 yr Popular Post Got some Dogwood from the neighbor a couple years ago and decided to grab a log and turn a small bowl. It is up there on the Janka hardness scale at 2150. I had heard it was hard to turn but it was a dream to work with. Turned nicely with sharp tools and when I sanded it down it got smooth and actually shined. It is very white and has a bland appearance. Hoping it looks better with finish applied. Here is a few pictures before any finish. Ants had eaten up through the middle of the tree leaving a dark stained area.
