I apply it with a fine hair artist brush.  I hold the bowl in my hand and paint the inside of it and the rim until the finish quits soaking into the wood and set it down to dry.  No wiping but careful eye for runs.  Can add another coat in an hour brushing on.  Usually wait until at least the next day for successive coats and continue until I reach a shine I am happy with.  After the insides are done I put double stick tape to the bottom of some empty vitamin bottles and stick them to the inside of the bowl bottoms.  The bottom of the bottles are curved and therefore give plenty of adhesion area and allows me a nice handhold while i paint the finish on the outside of the bowls repeating the same steps.  I next to never sand between coats and have never experienced a failure between coats.  The finish always stays put when I pull the tape off and is fine with wiping any tape residue off with mineral spirits.

 

Not the fastest finish but works for me when I want a nice shine with no brush marks.  The brush I use is very fine hair and if I get too much on I can blot the brush off and mop the extra up.

Working on upgrading my dust collection.  You might remember a couple of months ago, I moved the air compressor out of the loft, plumbed a line and moved it to the shed.  Then, I asked about moving the DC system out there.  That was a non-starter. 

 

I ordered a bolt on filter for my ancient Dust Right DC blower and moved it out of the loft.  I'll reinstall the system along with the Oneida Super Dust Deputy 2nd stage on the main floor/wall when it arrives.  Meanwhile no DC currently in operation.   It was getting just a little too sporting to haul 30 gallons of chips down a ladder on my shoulder.  If anyone has a good method to  secure the 2nd stage to the wall, I'm all ears. 

 

This move was made possible by choosing to store my ShopSmilth and accessories elsewhere.  Once that started, I noticed lots of other flatwork tooling that I'm no longer using and stored that as well.  Shop has become turning studio.  Moving forward, any flatwork that comes up will be hand tool oriented. 

 

I added a 20" extension to the RP Coronet increasing weight to about #500.  Now a 16/44 or 39" outboard monster.  Also rearranged the vacuum pump and Guinevere so that they are easier to access.

I built a version of this rolling DC that DanL had built.  If I am understanding you correctly, perhaps you could modify this idea for wall mounting.

My lathe broke down at the end of the day yesterday.  I suspect it is the on off switch.  I bought a control box from William Young when his motor went bad on his lathe 7 or 8 years ago so I am just going to change it out and then repair the bad one for a spare.  Don't think it will be today though. 

Dust collection re-fit.  Still waiting on the filter canister to arrive but made some progress on design and placement.  Country boy in me still thinks plumbers hanging strap and bailing wire work pretty well.  Seems to work a lot better this time around, not lifting the savings 10` up to the loft is the best reason I can think of for it.

Nice setup.

Found time to work on the lathe yesterday.  Changed out the control box and we're back in business.  Big smiles all around.

The switch is deep in the assembly.  May be the first item into the box at the assemble plant.  Lots of wires.

Dust collection update.  Canister filter arrived.  It was a breeze to install.  Bolt on adapter to make a flange.  Bolt canister to flange.  This product would very likely fit most any brand wall mount system.  System works much better now.  Improved airflow would be my guess.  Picks up screws and chunks of bark....<grins>

It has always performed admirably.  I regularly get 99.9% separation.  Only sanding fines make it to the impeller.  The bin is a bit smaller than I would like.  One of these days I'll run across a steel replacement

Air Filtration addition. I purchased a PM1250 electrostatic air filter during PowerMatic's 10% off sale. I've been looking at air filtration systems for the shop for a few months now. I settled on this one for it's near silent operation and secondly no filters to replace...ever. 754CFM @ 51db on high speed. I can't hear it over the radio. Weigh's in at about #40. Can be used as portable or wall/ceiling mount. Took less than an hour to assemble and install.  Said to remove particulates down to 0.1 microns. 

Noise and on-going cost of replacement filters were big con's on my list.

The unit has a 1000 hour operation timer that causes the power LED to flash. This is to remind you to vacuum the screen and fins. Hold down power to reset timer. Time will tell how it performs but knowing me as well as I do, I'd be reluctant to power on and use a loud device.
