What's On Your Work Bench?

Mine's nowhere NEAR the quality of yours, @John Morris. Three layers of 3/4" plywood on top of a layer of boards, with a 2x4 frame, but it still speaks to me in a way I just can't describe.

Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

I wish I could take credit for that bench of mine John, but I inherited another mans work. I do love my bench though. :)

I'm so proud of my work bench. I'd love to show you a picture. But, I'd have to clear it off first. Maybe next year.

My bench is so shy I can't even find it, let alone get a photo of it.

:ChinScratch:Now I just have to figure out where I put it after taking the photo.

That's a good looking bench, Adam. And, do I see a carved saw handle in the vise?

you are right Gene! A carved handle in deed! Looks like Adam's been up to his usual high quality work as before.

Indeed you do! Except that’s not a vise, just a slotted board nailed to the bench for  holding tools out of the way. Hard to make out anything on that mess of a bench. I’m actually straightening it up now.

I wish I had the time to make a few tools! The saw in the picture was custom made for me by Ron Bontz at Bontz Saws. It’s a dovetail size saw filed x-cut with 16 tpi. When Ron Bontz makes a saw, he sends you a standard handle in advance and asks you test it in your hand. You send it back with either notes on fit or marks on the handle where you want material removed and he adjusts it, then sends it back to you to test for fit again! This back and forth can go on quite a few times before it fits just right. His saws are, by far, the most comfortable I have ever used. The wood in the picture is quartersawn sycamore.

I agree, for me any horizontal surface in the shop is fair game for any item I will get back to later.  :JawDrop:

Took me a long time to find a glider to get a pattern for  few chairs for the back deck. Been sitting on Sapele for several years for this project. Anybody know of the best deal for the glider hardware?

"What's on my workbench?"  It would be so much easier to answer if the question was,

"What's not on your workbench?" I've been working on a large grandfather clock, with parts on my bench, I have left over jobs there too. My space is so limited that if I try to squeeze another project in, it may pop at the seams. The clock is done and will out of the shop today. Next is clean, toss and organize.............again. And so it goes......with all wood workers.

I have 14 work benches. This is the one I use the most when it's empty and I'm in my weld shop. I have four different shops. Machine shop, weld shop, wood shop and a electrical shop.

My bench is CLEAN! Now, for the rest of the shop.

Wish I could say that . Before I had surgery I put the DW 708 on the bench. Now I can’t lift anything that heavy to move it. Cutting in on my glider tear down.

Surgery??? Are you healing well?

My Bosch glider is permanently affixed to it's own bench. But, medical restrictions aside, I'd find moving it around in the shop to be very difficult. It's hell to get old. Things just quit working.:OldManSmiley::BangingHead:
