August 13, 20196 yr Mine's nowhere NEAR the quality of yours, @John Morris. Three layers of 3/4" plywood on top of a layer of boards, with a 2x4 frame, but it still speaks to me in a way I just can't describe. John

John I wish I could take credit for that bench of mine John, but I inherited another mans work. I do love my bench though.
August 13, 20196 yr Popular Post I'm so proud of my work bench. I'd love to show you a picture. But, I'd have to clear it off first. Maybe next year.
August 13, 20196 yr Popular Post My bench is so shy I can't even find it, let alone get a photo of it.

August 27, 20196 yr Popular Post I found part of mine! Now I just have to figure out where I put it after taking the photo.
August 27, 20196 yr That's a good looking bench, Adam. And, do I see a carved saw handle in the vise?

Except that’s not a vise, just a slotted board nailed to the bench for holding tools out of the way. Hard to make out anything on that mess of a bench. I’m actually straightening it up now.

I wish I had the time to make a few tools! The saw in the picture was custom made for me by Ron Bontz at Bontz Saws. It’s a dovetail size saw filed x-cut with 16 tpi. When Ron Bontz makes a saw, he sends you a standard handle in advance and asks you test it in your hand. You send it back with either notes on fit or marks on the handle where you want material removed and he adjusts it, then sends it back to you to test for fit again! This back and forth can go on quite a few times before it fits just right. His saws are, by far, the most comfortable I have ever used. The wood in the picture is quartersawn sycamore.
August 27, 20196 yr Popular Post I need to get this mess off of my bench.. . So I can get back to some woodworking....test drives don't count.. 1 done, 4 to go..

September 18, 20196 yr Took me a long time to find a glider to get a pattern for few chairs for the back deck. Been sitting on Sapele for several years for this project. Anybody know of the best deal for the glider hardware? Edited September 18, 20196 yr by BillyJack
September 18, 20196 yr Popular Post "What's on my workbench?" It would be so much easier to answer if the question was, "What's not on your workbench?" I've been working on a large grandfather clock, with parts on my bench, I have left over jobs there too. My space is so limited that if I try to squeeze another project in, it may pop at the seams. The clock is done and will out of the shop today. Next is clean, toss and organize.............again. And so it goes......with all wood workers.
September 20, 20196 yr Popular Post I have 14 work benches. This is the one I use the most when it's empty and I'm in my weld shop. I have four different shops. Machine shop, weld shop, wood shop and a electrical shop.
September 20, 20196 yr Wish I could say that . Before I had surgery I put the DW 708 on the bench. Now I can’t lift anything that heavy to move it. Cutting in on my glider tear down.
September 20, 20196 yr Surgery??? Are you healing well? My Bosch glider is permanently affixed to it's own bench. But, medical restrictions aside, I'd find moving it around in the shop to be very difficult. It's hell to get old. Things just quit working.
