I missed out, though I didn''t need one. Apparently Grizzly had some 15" planers they were clearancing at $169 plus shipping ($328 total). the link was active when I post this, though they may pull it off.

Hello All! As I mentioned a little while back, I'm getting ready to move. I've decided to break down as many tools as I can to fit things in the truck. This leads me to my larger jointer. I bought it for $50 knowing it needed some serious restoration work, rust removal mainly. So here are my questions: 1. Should I remove the main body from the stand and leave that as is? The stand will get broken down no matter what. 2. Should I remove the tables from the main body as well? 3. Just how much disassembly is recommended considering the restoration it will need when I arrive at my destination? I've attached the owners manual and parts diagram…

A local woodworker was asking $200.00 for his Delta 40-640 scroll saw. I went to look at it, test it and came home with the saw. After a bit of chat, he told me I could have it for $150.00. It came with the wrenches, extra inserts, blades and the manual. What are your thoughts? I think I'm a winner here.

I planned this out and put it together a couple years ago, it has a Thein style dust plate inside the seperator drum. I'm extremely happy, and proud of this project.

I've been making a tail stock for an old Delta lathe. 1950's? I cast the body using a junk alloy wheel from a Mazda. Bought a piece of 3/4" acme threaded rod and a 1 3/4" piece of steel rod. The rest was from various pieces of scrap. Took me way longer than it should have but it turned out to work quite well. I did it mainly to see if I could. I'm a wood worker not a machinist. In retirement I decided to try metal working. Bought a mill & lathe. I still need to do some cosmetic clean up. Now I need to find a tool rest for it.

All I recently ordered some specialized bolts for my DJ20. They said they had them in stock. 1/11/2017 I ordered the parts today is 1/27/2017 and I had to call them for the 3rd time to find out when I am getting them. They claim they are to be delivered today. I will never use this company again unless I have no choice. http://www.deltamachineryparts.com/

Last year I bought a Dewalt DW735 planer to replace my Delta 22-580 13” planer. The Dewalt has been my mainstay and I’m very happy with it but the Delta has been sitting in the corner collecting dust. I stuck it there using the excuse that I have a backup but truth be known it really needs to find a new home. What do you think the fair market value for the Delta is?

After about 7-8 years of not using the RAS, the top it’s a bit out of shape. Menards want roughly $35 for 3/4 PB and Around a $100 for 3/4 MDO.. I haven’t bought PB in many years and it was $17-$18 back then…Guess I’ll just have to make that top flat again..

I have an old Delta 40-560 scroll saw. The air diaphragm, or bellows, that generates the air flow to keep the cut line free of dust is shot. I can't find a replacement for this part anywhere. I emailed Delta, but they don't have a replacement. They recommended I check with another company that specializes in obsolete and discontinued parts, but I struck out there. So here is my question. You know the flex seal product, where the pitch man sticks a patch on a leaking 5 gal bucket of water, or cuts a boat in half and then fixes it with the tape version of this product? Would that fix the bellows on my scroll saw? I'm thinking of a quick dip in a can of this stuff, o…

I have an older Delta 11" surface planer. Maybe 12 years old. I don't use it a lot and it has always done a good job. Today I got it out to plane down a couple of blood wood pieces 12" long by 7" wide. The cuts were wavy and not good. I haven't used it for a year or more. The blades are sharp. I'm thinking that the wavy cuts are a result of slippage in the drive roller. I took thinner cuts as I went to see if that would help, it didn't What are your thoughts? I'd like to know before I tare it apart. Thanks

So, I'm finally getting started on the overhaul of my Delta 36-630 table saw. I already had the stand and everything else disassembled for my move earlier this year. I decided to go ahead and do an overhaul cleaning and maintenance while it's apart. I have the bearings out and will pick up replacements this week. Little did I know that the large washer flange thing on the inside of the arbor was actually pressed on the spindle, not threaded on. I used a pair of jaw pullers and it came off without further trouble. This leads me to my first question. How do I press that part back onto the arbor?? I'm also going to work on cleaning every moving part that is threa…

Ok super sleuths, I need a part for my ancient Delta 34-183 tenoning jig. The tri ball handle that drives the clamp assembly has striped out at the set screw and it won’t stay tight. This happened a couple of years ago and I red riled and tapped the hole on the other side. The shaft hole is probably supposed to be 3/8” but is now .400. I’ve tried McMaster Carr to no avail. Any ideas before I spring for a new one?

I needed a disc sander for some time now, not just for the wood turning that I've recently gotten into but I've seen a need for one for quite some time. I was originally looking at the Ryobi orbital disc sander how ever I have used a lot of equipment from Ryobi I've had plenty of luck with them. I have several tools from Dewalt as well. So I'm pretty well tied between the two companies when it comes to some power tools. My angle grinder which is a 4 and a half inch angle grinder from Dewalt which was about 80 bucks if I'm not mistaken has lasted me a long time and I still use it when I feel its needed. How ever I've also used a lot of orbital disc sanders as well to …

I bought it new in 1997 and used it off and on for the first 17 years but in the last 3 I have used it a lot, sometimes daily. It has always run fine but today I turned it on and it ran for 1/2 a second then quit. Here's what I know: 1) It is getting power, I even switched to different circuit altogether 2) I pulled the switch out to verify that it is good 3) The brushes, though original, are still 1/2" long and show no signs of chipping or abnormal wear 4) The wires on the brushes are intact and the springs have plenty of tension 5) The motor is easy to spins (took the side covers off to verify) 6) The 18 amp built-in breaker on the top of the mot…

When my old planer crapped out I was in the middle of projects (well, that's sort of a given at any time). I ordered the DeWalt 735x (came with infeed and outfeed wings and an extra set of blades). It seemed to be the most highly recommended machine in its class. I've been using it for over a month and have been very happy with it. Chip ejection is good, has two feed speeds for rough and final planing passes, and seems to do a good, smooth job. It has stops at common thicknesses, 1/4", 1/2", 3/4",... I did miss the Rockler sale that would come with the stand, but my wife got me it for Xmas present, though I was ready to do my own before then. Now I need to get tha…

About last Thanksgiving I noticed that the table that runs under my cutter head on my Dewalt 735 was loose. You could see that shavings had gotten under the table so I gently lifted the corner, blew the shavings out and added a bit of double back carpet tape under it. I ordered a new table (at $60) and figured it would arrive in a week at most. Well, today it arrived after multiple back orders so I pulled the old one off, scraped the old glue off and gently sanded the surface. After a bath of acetone, I read a brief article on reassembly and was ready to install the new one. When I unwrapped it I was shocked at the mirror finish it had. I wrapped and taped every thi…
