  1. From the album: John Morris's Hand Tools

a set of Japanese marking knives, I'd like to thank Keith Mealy for helping me identify what these knives are used for, marking. Used for scribing fine lines on wood, they are very sharp.
  2. From the album: John Morris's Hand Tools

A different set of markings compared to the other knives. I want to research some more on these to find out what these markings mean, we have a friend from Japan who I am sure will be able to translate these marks.
  3. From the album: John Morris's Hand Tools

An unknown makers mark on the back on these knives, all the marks appear to be different, but the knives seem to be made from the same maker.
  4. From the album: John Morris's Hand Tools

Keen Kutter marking gauge Dad gave me long time ago. I love this tool.
  5. I have an older Delta 11" surface planer. Maybe 12 years old. I don't use it a lot and it has always done a good job. Today I got it out to plane down a couple of blood wood pieces 12" long by 7" wide. The cuts were wavy and not good. I haven't used it for a year or more. The blades are sharp. I'm thinking that the wavy cuts are a result of slippage in the drive roller. I took thinner cuts as I went to see if that would help, it didn't What are your thoughts? I'd like to know before I tare it apart. Thanks
  6. But seems real nice I was on AliBaba I forget why and stumbles across this for a lousy $20 bucks Sometime ya can't resist the shiny bauble. I had low expectations Maybe it's like 1/3 size of he real thing maybe it was made of compressed waste I didn't know. Turns out it's pretty nice Don't recognize the wood. It's hard plenty hard and slightly greenish
  7. From the album: Shaker Furniture

I sanded the post to 220, I did not get too carried away with the sanding on the rear posts, since it's going into the steamer, the grain will raise anyway. After I took the post to 220 I marked a couple lines where the rear and side rung holes must be drilled, and where the back slats will have to be mortised in by hand.
  8. I have been asked by a friend to make a chess board. The wood working part is easy but he wants the letter/number coordinates placed around the perimeter. I haven't any idea how to do this and make it look nice. Anyone have any suggestions??
