Well, not quite recently finished. I found this at the bottom of a pile of bowls. I had forgotten I made it. This boxelder crotch bowl was taken high in the tree where the flame didn't reach. I like the look of white boxelder, especially with this feathering.

This is a piece of red oak. It is the largest hunk of wood I've ever had on my lathe. I can honestly say it was the scariest thing I've ever turned. I think I must have ground down an entire gouge on this thing because it was hard as a rock. Lol.

Nice pieces, no doubt that last piece was a butt puckering episode. You got a pretty cool looking shape out of it.

It definitely was a bit nerve racking. I had to turn it down a bit more than I really wanted to get rid of some cracks but I do like the shape.

I posted about this piece on the AAW forums. It was really punky in spots, tried to blow apart on me, worms holes, the whole nine yards. I eventually beat it into submission. 11" diameter.

I spend hours in my screen porch. My log pile is straight out from the porch, so I look at it every day. Everyone once in a while, corny as it sounds, I hear a piece of wood calling to me. I have been looking at this piece of mulberry for over a year. Sunday was the day. Those darned cracks are something you can count on with mulberry. Minimal in this case.

8" x 3.5", Tried and True Original.

Finished this one today. Measures 12” across by 3”. A dead Ash tree fell over in the neighbors property. I was able to get a couple pieces from it.  While I was taking the tenon off the nub gave up causing it to come loose from the jam chuck causing a slight mark on the edge but I’m still happy with it. Finished with tried and true original.
