Made from cherry scraps and finished with Hampshire Sheen wax.

Quite nice Lew. Great grain patterns. Very appropriate for a vase. Are these from some of that wind shake pieces?

Thanks!  Yes they are. I have a few pieces left that might work for shallow desk pocket bowls and one roughed/dried medium/shallow bowl blank.

Finished this hollow form a couple days ago. Did maybe 5 layers of shellac and just not quite satisfied since the pores pop on walnut with a film finish. Just got tired of doing any more so here it is. Black walnut with spalted pecan collar and unknown exotic finial (yes that is what was on the label when purchased).

Have a new photo setup but just couldn’t get the two bright spots out. Showing more than one view to show some possibilities with these lights. IMG_8861.jpeg.7a054c10859b50580d564e62f07b59c4.jpeg

That's quite nice, the finish looks very nice to my eyes as well.

It looks fantastic Gerald.  Shellac never seems to lay completely flat for me.  I usually go with wipe on poly.

^^^^^Agree with all above^^^^^. Gorgeous piece.

Love the grain & color contrasts. Almost a flame effect. Very cool.

As it turns out, box elder is great for hollowing practice. It's only about 720 Janka hardness.
