Might just be a Lap Desk Project lurking in there...somewhere?

Depends on how fancy-schmanzy I make the lid...

Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

Influx of materials from the biophysics PhD / woodworker relocating to Colorado:  The Delta Motorized Miter Box 34-080 - weighs a TON - is here. The Rubio Monocoat arrived along with 30+ cans of other stuff. A stack of fancy-grade 3/4 oak plywood. A bigger stack of "other" plywoods. Walnut veneer, now rolled up and hanging from a rafter. Nice stuff but I've never used it before.

Plumbing buddy immediately came over, claimed most of the plywood. I've tried the Rubio on hard pine and walnut. Smooth!

His showroom-maintained Unisaw ... no takers. In its basement location, removal would require near-complete disassembly. I offered to give the saw a nice home in my basement if it is still unclaimed when their moving van pulls out for the Rockies.

An interesting development. The guy I got all this from, Paul H. Axelsen, M.D.  Professor of Pharmacology, UPenn, has a Fine Woodworking magazine article coming out in about six months. A laboratory study of sandpaper felt-smoothness vs. actual appearance of smoothness on a microscopic scale. With scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. No spoiler alert, but the pics and text do tell a tale ...

It's out of the way for now. We'll see how much gets used in the next decades. For now, got the monster miter saw with a nice 10" blade on it. Thinking about a nice base but I've already gifted all that plywood.

Work bench is now pristine after getting the scroll saw stand re assembled. That was a nightmare. Glad I took pictures before I tore it down a month ago. Now to mount the saw. It'll soon be live.

Two old school Sharpeners.

Used to have several of those little plastic ones but, their dust/shavings collection system sucked.

I sent a buddy the beam-end to lumber series of images like you see posted in gallery. Our conversation:

Good god! Just saw your email! That’s a lot of work to set that wood free!

Saved $10 doing it that way

It's good to be back!  Just came back in from offshore yesterday and it looks like I have an unexpected supply of live oak!TreeDown3.jpg.ae016667b82703d4a00e6d733dc6a337.jpg

The wife says it came down three days ago.  Missed the garage and straddled the fence so, no repairs needed.  I'll just have to be careful as I ease it on to the ground.

Great to have you back and safely Thad. Glad no damage occurred to your property.
