June 27, 20223 yr My original post disappeared. Brags are warranted, Tom. That's quite an achievement.
June 27, 20223 yr Popular Post Ok, a couple of things on my workbench. Hopefully, I can get the pictures to work right. The other item really is on my workbench. Hanging off the end of it, that is. Saw hanging on the plug without the keeper. And with the keeper. Plug made from walnut, and the keeper from padauk. So far, I have turned three pawns for the chess set I am making for my gron. Starting to look like a set? Edited June 27, 20223 yr by PostalTom Hit submit by mistake.

June 27, 20223 yr Popular Post Thanks Gerald. I am still having trouble getting a good looking ball on the top of the pawn. They look more like a deformed mushroom.
June 28, 20223 yr On Friday night? The diagonal-faced piece made this. The light grain is close to the pith. Took the "First" wedge-split piece to the porch this morning . . . And got a nice 2" x 4.5" full. Plus Scooby Snacks. And a pile of 'dust. Live'n'learn. Still to come, the 4x5.
June 29, 20223 yr Popular Post Just for the sake of being accurate, I have to correct something I said the other day. The saw hanging from the end of my workbench is not the one I won on the fundraiser last year. That one is hanging from a pegboard. The one in the picture is a Florip saw that the owner of the company calls a bench saw, because he says it never leaves his bench. So I figured storing it on the end of my bench was appropriate. He says it can do anything a full panel saw can do, it just takes longer.

Sweet looking saw...you enhanced it greatly with you bench hangar. Like it alot...very classy!
June 29, 20223 yr Popular Post Thank you Dave. It took me several tries to get the plug the saw hangs on right.
June 30, 20223 yr Here you go, gents. Before / After. The last piece of wedge-split beam-end. Squared up on a 10" table saw. One flat and one end hand-planed, then dressed with freshly-burr'd scrapers.
July 1, 20223 yr Popular Post Making little trays with scraps yesterday. Trying to use less glue to prevent squeeze-out along the inside corners. Wood is dry, bond is steel-tight in no time. Tidied up the corners of two on the basement vac-connected bench sander. These are for gifting to the kids of farm market vendor friends.
July 1, 20223 yr Popular Post When you dry fit, apply some blue tape to each adjacent board at the corner. Makes glue clean up much easier.
July 3, 20223 yr Popular Post Not the usual mess on my bench... And...a third plank is sitting on top of the tablesaw.. Waiting on a "Cut List" to arrive....Project for July?

July 5, 20223 yr Dawn planing and scraping. Started out @ 176g. Removed 31g ... 18% ... Now she baby smooth all over. Time to sharpen the two small planes.
July 5, 20223 yr Popular Post I can smell those pine curls from here Jim...oh wait, granddaughter was using Pine Sol while cleaning..my bad.
