  1. My wife wanted me to make a large sunflower for our fence. I used plywood and pine to make this one for her, its about 3' dia. I grabbed some old acrylic Paint and made it pretty colorful. I sprayed it with some weather resistant stuff. I haven't found anything here (CO) that can take this sun for long, with the exception of porch and deck paint. I've tried just about everything you can think of or heard of, nothing holds up, especially clear stuff.
  2. I started with some Blood Wood scraps in my hand on the way to toss them and some of it kind of looked like a flower petal. I made it and coated it with epoxy, which wasn't a good idea, won't do that again. I wanted to get a more natural looking surface, didn't come out as I hoped. It looked pretty sad. I redid some of it, still didn't like it. My wife said "Why don't you put a butterfly on it" I did, 2 of them.

    Flower

Been wanting to do tulips for a while but instead of cutting the notch ahead wanted to turn thin and carve them. You could say this is a prototype as I plan to mak some changes such as smaller petals. The dye does not do well in pecan. But it is passable.
  4. I started an idea and as I progressed I realized that the idea was a not a good one. So I took the pieces and made a lidded box. It is unusual but I think my granddaughter will like it. It is about 6" dia
  5. It was very cold here today and kept the garage shut up. It stayed around 40 degrees with my small heater. So I decided to finish a project that I had started years ago. A replica of the rare Oak tree flower It is pretty big and I left it alone for years because I didn't know how to finish it. I got an idea and put some leopard wood scrap in the center. I don't know who will want it yet, but I'm sure someone will speak up
