Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning. Not sure if that's good or bad news. Seems like winter has been wasted around here. When it's cold there's no precipitation. It warms up and then we get rain.

Our Patriot Turners-

Our resident ornament master is at it again. @Ron Altier posted some things he created from just scrap pieces. Ron sure has an eye for design-

@Steve Krumanaker picked up some elm from his son. Steve turned some lovely bowls. As always, he adds his personal touch to the bottoms-

Like this weeks post.  Lots to view with the texturing grabbing peaking my interest.

Thanks for the post Lew. Have not watched Mike's videos yet but will say this on cracked wood and speed. For beginners it is better to avoid cracked wood, for others note: It may be turnable but as a precaution turn at slower speeds (under 800) until you see how solid the wood is. Even then higher speeds will show you where the crack is BTDT, with a punctuation mark.

No pictures but yesterday had a call from a man wanting a finial for bedpost turned. He came by this afternoon and got it done . He saw some bowls in my finished cabinet and bought a redbud bowl. Hey you just never know, made my day.

As a brand new turner, I really look forward to these weekly posts.

I always learn a ton, and it always highlights that there are things that I don’t even know that I don’t know.

I am happy that it is winter because it seems that the content in these posts seems directly proportional to the drop in temperature. :)

Thanks for all the work you do curating this content @lew!

Thank you, Lew, for the safety tips.  They change from time to time, but it is always a great refresher.  It should be mandatory for those wishing to start and during the beginning of developing the skill.  Those who have experience often need a refresher as we tend to become comfortable and complacent.  Enjoyed the videos of Cindy.  And, the stunning work of Stephen (whoever) LOL  is so over my head but certainly enjoyable and worthy of study.  Wow, were you busy during this last cold and rainy spell.  Thank you again.
