Working on more drawers for pantry. Trimmed edge banding and sanded today. Love the sound of a plane making curls. IMG_3170.jpeg

Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

I love planing too! Alot. It looks like you have the Lee Valley Veritas block plane with the optional wooden knob there. I have the same one. But usually I just leave the brass one in place.

Also have the add on handle but the casting broke and all they wanted to do is 10 percent off another one so opted out of that . Great plane for difficult grain

You mean the actual body casting broke? How did that happen?

Do not remember might have dropped . It was the casting on the add on handle at the attachment.

Gerald.... I'm confused. The block plane comes with the brass flat topped knob. The Wooden knob is the add on.

Are you saying the casting cracked on the slightly raised landing where the brass knob sits?

It is called a vertical tote.

Vertical Tote

Those little prongs are fairly thin for cast iron and that is what broke.

Oh....I do remember those now. I was never big on those. Waste of money to me.

@Wichman3 those look great.

My wife wanted me to make some boxes so she could use plastic jugs to put flowers in for her daughter's wedding this month. This is the 3/4" soft wood mock up.

These are all the pieces for the 12 boxes she wants and plus 8 more because I figured out that the boxes were perfect to hold 4 22oz bottles of beer at Stoneman Brewery CSA

Working the ends of the boxes, glued and pinned

Now to add the bottoms of the boxes

These are the Bride and Groom's boxes. Three pallet wood boards weren't tall enough to hide the jugs so I had to add a small additional piece to make work

Flag progress by my husband: He worked on staining the red and blue (waterbased stain that is brushed on and then wiped off) and then painting the white (applied and then brushed off so the grain shows through). Used razor blades to keep the union area clear of the red or white. Long process but great progress. Next will be carving the stars 🇺🇸

I got the drawer faces and handles installed.

What do you use as a template or stencil for the stars?

We ordered a stencil off of Amazon that I think was recommended in one of the YT we watched. Getting it traced on the wood takes a bit of shifting due to the waves. Would be much easier on a flat version of the flag. We worked together on the last part to keep the stars in line while he penciled in the outline.

Here they are just penciled in. He sort of "filled in" with the pencil for clarity when doing the Dremel work.
