Pretty much a low key weekend. After church services yesterday we enjoyed our annual Christmas carry-in lunch. Good food and fellowship but not as well attended as in the past.   Week ahead:

Got the final coat of finish on the vessel of illusion. Had the filler turned but when testing, it cracked. Back to the lathe if I can squeeze some time in this week.

I'm going to make a sideboard with serpentine drawers. I was able to make a templet for the drawer fronts and got it to match the original piece pretty good; as Scott Phillips would say : "That's perfect!" (I seldom refer to anything I do with those words).  I ordered the veneer I needed for them, my first attempt will be to make them as bent laminations. Now while I wait I'll back to putzing with some pet urns I need to get done.

Got the four wheel drive and brakes fixed on the plow Blazer which means of course we'll have weather into the 50's for the week.

:ChinScratch: Rest of week TBD. :WonderScratch:

Our kids & grandkids came in Friday, and we celebrated Christmas with them on Saturday. Plenty of food & drink and everyone left Sunday with a care package for Xmas dinner at their house on Thursday. I'll spend the next few days trying to stay away from the cookie trays, it's not easy being me.

Went this past Wednesday to the Dr. and everything looks good, 18 months cancer free, life is good.

Norm used to frustrate me with the typical, "Let's check this for {square, fit, whatever}.  Yes, perfect."   Please tell me how to fix errors.

That and the same old "safety" speech ever episode.

Week ahead: Christmas Eve candlelight services, Christmas Day we'll be at our daughter's. I should be shopping today, but there's still tomorrow and most of Wednesday. Now that we're past the 21st, the extra minute of daylight each day will be a big help. That pretty much covers the week until Friday's topic. Oh, still have to procure donuts for Santa's care plate. I've heard he's trying to cut back on cookies.

We had the whole fam damily over on Sunday after 2+days of cleaning and child-proofing.
Today I rebuilt the cord woodpile the metal roof that blew off last week from the big blow we had last week.

Now I'm relaxing and enjoying one of the many craft brewed beer I got for out "Solstice Day" celebration. I don't think there's going to be a lot that gets done this week.

Worked in manufacturing for 24 years. As a Frontline production supervisor held safety briefings daily before the shift started, weekly safety topics and incident reports presented during our combined weekly staff meetings, taught area specific safety classes to new employees as a part of their orientation, monthly mandatory supervisor safety training, plus new employees received a full 8 hours of general safety training by the safety department, each area had written specific Safe Job Procedures to be reviewed 2x/year as well as safe work practices within their detailed work instructions, managers presented safety discussions and reviews during all section quarterly meetings, safety charts and signs all over ..yep, we still we still had accidents and injuries.

10/10 Rule...10 points per digit on your hand counted every 10 years. Anything less than 100 points (assuming you started with 10 digits), you failed the test.

95% of all accidents are attributed to operator error, failure to follow establised work instructions or proper use of PPE

5% are directly related to "management" failing to provide a safe work environment.

Norm did it right IMO; Look at any operators/ users manual for a new tool. Far more pages devoted to safe tool use than the tool itself, yet we still have to warn people not to eat tide pods, not to smoke while pumping gas and wear seat belts.

I'll disassemble my soap box now...where's my safety glasses and hearing protection.😉

Oh grasshopper, you really are two weeks from anywhere with hallucinations like this. I can give you contact information for a good Neurologist. Wouldn't mention my name though.:funny1:

I would rather that he gave safety advice when, for example, when ripping a wide board, jointing a twisted board, using a band saw, routing an edge, routing a groove or dado, using various jigs on a table saw or router table,  using a chisel, etc., etc.,  etc.  Not just "read and follow the manual"

:ChinScratch:  Naw, that's alright I've got plenty of nerve.

:funny1:

But if you meant a Psychiatrist I once left one staring out their window mumbling incoherently.

Nah,  the Neurologist gets inside your head, I mean literally inside your head trying to figure out which wires go where.

Fortunately he hasn't screwed any bolts into my neck yet.
