Actually, we "lucked out" got 3" of rain instead of snow. The rain got rid of most of the snow we had on the ground.

Got a 10 or 11 inch poplar bowl blank glued up and about ready to go I'm thinking about trying out a mortise with this go around so I don't have to figure out how I'm going to cut off the tenon when all is said and done.  I've never really done a mortise before so that should be an interesting trial run.

That is a BIG understatement Steve!

Just try and size the opening so that that the chuck is almost closed completely when fitted into the mortice. That way you'll get the most contact on the jaw surfaces when it is opened to hold the piece.

That makes plenty of sense to me....

Send it via the Blackfoot reservation it straddles the border. <_<

Temperatures in the 60's and about 2" of rain has wiped out 12" of snow. All on Christmas day. Below freeing today.

We had a good Christmas, all our kids home, and now is the day after Christmas, all has settled down, you know, this may be my favorite part of the Holiday Season, the day after, everyone is settled down, the hype is over, and we have leftovers to eat, and a sense of calm and feeling lazy.:D:P

Hope ya'll had a great Christmas!

So you're getting his and hers Lexuses, GMCs, Chevies, Audis, Kias, Toyotas, or whatever else they're pitching for Christmas presents?   (But I have heard end of year is a really good time to buy a new car so the dealership gets their incentives/discounts from mfr.)

The wife has been fretting about the 15 degree or so temps we've had.   I had to remind her that when we lived in Wisconsin, there were always one or two weeks a year where the high for the week was about -5 and the low could be -20  (one year we had -30 with -70 wind chill).  All the cars had little electric plugs hanging out their grills.
