I’m continuing on with the ceiling. It’s slow going but I’m getting there. I’m a little over half done at this point. This is about as boring as it gets.

Managed to get the drawers installed yesterday. Now I can focus on the ceiling and get the blanks out of the shop.  Paul

We are continuing with the ceiling tiles as much as we can. The black walnut that we bought locally is turning out to be very nice stuff. I bought this all in the rough so I no idea what it would look

WOW!! I understand tedious, repetitive jobs may become monotonous, but WOW, Paul, step back and look at what you've accomplished especially from your starting point.

Granted, I'm not working upside down but the view I have is on the other end of the spectrum from boring. Absolutely breath-taking.

It might be boring and tedious at this point but the results are spectacular!

It really is spectacular.

There aren't enough superlatives to adequately describe your work on this project, Paul. It's just mind blowingly astounding.

Stunning!

Thank you very much for the comments. When it’s done Will be a day of celebration believe me. We did not intend to do them with the Shaper Origin originally. We have a large CNC at my sons shop on the coast and that was where we intended to mill them. That would have been simple. We did not allow for the humidity differential between the beach and the desert. The first test pieces were horribly warped by the time they got back here to the desert. That CNC is not turning out to be useful to us here and building another one here is out of the question so the Shaper Origin was our only solution. Between prep, milling and finishing each tile is taking about two hours which is painstakingly slow. There are a 137 of them 🥺

Hallelujah! I just finished the 124th and last ceiling tile. Gunny if I ever even suggest something like this again please come and put this corpsman out of his misery. The last row is all sanded and ready to Watco in the morning. I will hopefully have them all up in place by Fri. I did find a beautifully grained piece at the bottom of the stack. Can’t wait to see it with finish on it.

That you did Paul. I can't wait to see it with finish too. Same for the ceiling. You'll have to do a Picasso picture view.:P

I had missed your early Jan. post, I am darned near speechless.  But I knew it was going to be a piece of art.  I don't normally wish my life away, but I sure want to see this one completed :)

I tried giving this post a Double Like but it kept deleting the first Like ... :ChinScratch:

That's one gorgeous hunk of wood, Paul.

WOW! What'll they think of next !?!  Every time I see the dominos I think of a computerized Rumba creeping across the work on its own, drilling, routing, vacuuming, while you kick back in a straw boater with your feet up, can of Red Stripe in hand . . .

It was a busy weekend here. The ceiling tiles are complete and installed. The lighting seems to be what she was looking for. The last item now is the row of tiles on the car edge which are only 7” wide and will have a different wave like pattern and will only have red lights. They will go rather quickly. I included some pictures of the lighting effect and a sample of the edge tiles. The real ones will again be in black walnut.
