February 28, 20224 yr Goodness Paul, seeing the ceiling panels especially in the blue gave me a flashback of all the neon in our old movie theater, now long gone. I'm without words to express what you have achieved.
February 28, 20224 yr Author Popular Post Thanks Dave. That “old movie theater” experience is what she was looking for. The irony of the ceiling tile part of the project was that it was not designed or intended to be done on the Shaper Origin. It was originally conceived to be done on the big CNC which my son operates over on the coast which is capable of doing six at a time and very fast. We did a test piece early on and discovered that the humidity gradient between the coast and here caused it to warp to the point it was not usable. Our only choice was to proceed with the Shaper Origin which was unbelievably tedious and boring. I could only get 4 a day finished and there were 124 to do. Each one took about 45 min to do just the routering. They are now in the category of never again ! Paul

February 28, 20224 yr Popular Post I don't have the superlatives to express what you have done with that media room Paul. Absolutely amazing !

I'm late coming to the thread but have been enjoying it a page or two a day. Amazing effort and final. Or is there ever a final? Now we're going to lower the floor four feet ...
March 1, 20224 yr Author Popular Post There is still a lot to do on that room after the ceiling is done but thankfully not so tedious. The marble countertops still need to be cut but we ran into a snag with the stonecutters. Very few available right now here in Vegas. There is a small bathroom off that room which is a total gut and start over. The last component will be the three entry doors in that room. I’m looking for the 8/4 walnut for those doors right now. Those doors will be quite a ways down the line. I have to get the wood and let it sit in the shop for a month or two to let it reach ambient moisture levels. Paul
March 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Paul, I think that the tv purchase may have been a little premature. I can't imagine anything playing on the screen that would keep my attention more than the room itself. Beautiful work!

March 5, 20224 yr Author Popular Post We finished making the small row of tiles today and put the finish on them. Hopefully we will get them up on Sun. Paul

April 2, 20224 yr Author Popular Post Well amongst all the house debacles we managed to finish off the ceiling. The room is complete except for the counter tops which have become problematic. The wife purchased a slab of quartzite for the counter tops and the floor in the bathroom. The problem is we can’t find someone to cut the stone. We have contacted several and either they don’t show up at all to give us a bid or they show up and just don’t respond. Very weird.
April 2, 20224 yr Popular Post It looks totally awesome! Your weeks of work really paid off. As to the hard surface cutting, you might contact Lowes and/or HD for the names of their quartz fabricator/installers.
April 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Amazing Paul. You have captured the essence and ambience of the Art Deco Era. Simply spectacular.
