Retired farmers get a somewhat different memento. Did you know that dried cattle dung becomes almost as hard as wood, and you can carve your initials in it? ;)

Q:  Why does a chicken coop only have two doors?   A:  Because if it had four doors, it would be a sedan.

No problem. Got more coffee. Keyboard's kinda iffy, though.

Good morning, this tall cafe chair is my prototype. I plan on adding a stretcher between the legs at the bottom just ran out of time. It will be painted so I used all reclaimed material. Do you see any improvements or suggestions? It sits very comfortably and is just the right height for the table.

that came out nice...

the reclaimed wood part is a big plus...

add not one but two stretchers... one to each side...

;) of course buddy.  Was thinking of doing kind of an arch to add a little flair.

be different..

do a blind half lapped ''X'' or oblique...

Speaking of being different, I do like the random contrasting wood! You had mentioned painting it, it really looks cool as is Pat.

Fine looking chair, Pat. Those stretchers will be an interesting install. What's your plan?

I agree with John.  Looks good as is and painting between all those slats will be a nightmare.

spray..

Spray would still be difficult between the seat slats.

slightly round the front and back of the feet so there's less chance of a catch and split

I Really like that design, and the foot rest is a neat idea. You did an excellent job too.

I agree with painting it now, a lot of slots to paint, maybe you can sub it out to the wifey to paint.

How would you incorporate that into the four legs?

X brace.. connect the legs diagonally...

Like it a lot Pat. After pondering on it and looking again, I agree with those that suggest leaving the random colored re-purposed wood look. Makes it very unique and eye catching.

FWIW, the only change I'd suggest is modifying the arms (at least one) to incorporate a beverage holder.

Design consideration:

Perhaps titling the arm rest down 3 degrees in the back.    Danl

They do tilt toward the rear already, my wife who is 5' 10" said it was just right for her. I think a chair like this will have many considerations depending on who sits in it. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Guys, I'm not totally OCD but just a little ;). The boss said paint so paint it is, I will be rounding the feet as suggested another item I just didn't get to yet.
