September 24, 20187 yr Popular Post Good morning, this tall cafe chair is my prototype. I plan on adding a stretcher between the legs at the bottom just ran out of time. It will be painted so I used all reclaimed material. Do you see any improvements or suggestions? It sits very comfortably and is just the right height for the table.
September 24, 20187 yr that came out nice... the reclaimed wood part is a big plus... 33 minutes ago, Pat Meeuwissen said: I plan on adding a stretcher between the legs at the bottom.. Do you see any improvements or suggestions? add not one but two stretchers... one to each side...

September 24, 20187 yr Fine looking chair, Pat. Those stretchers will be an interesting install. What's your plan?
September 24, 20187 yr I agree with John. Looks good as is and painting between all those slats will be a nightmare.

September 24, 20187 yr slightly round the front and back of the feet so there's less chance of a catch and split
September 24, 20187 yr I Really like that design, and the foot rest is a neat idea. You did an excellent job too. I agree with painting it now, a lot of slots to paint, maybe you can sub it out to the wifey to paint. Herb

After pondering on it and looking again, I agree with those that suggest leaving the random colored re-purposed wood look. Makes it very unique and eye catching. FWIW, the only change I'd suggest is modifying the arms (at least one) to incorporate a beverage holder.
September 25, 20187 yr Design consideration: Perhaps titling the arm rest down 3 degrees in the back. Danl

Danl They do tilt toward the rear already, my wife who is 5' 10" said it was just right for her. I think a chair like this will have many considerations depending on who sits in it. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

The boss said paint so paint it is, I will be rounding the feet as suggested another item I just didn't get to yet.
