I thought it was 1/4" 28 TPI for the lamp thread. I know standard hardware doesn't fit. 

I've got taps, and dies for both 1/8" NPS, and NPT. Along with a lot of old gas light parts. 

Now that I think about it, I've got a few Markel Slip Shade Light Fixtures.

Maybe a brass plate with "Junque Deco".

Yesterdays, and todays progress update.

 

I did some more work on the upper case front yesterday, and today.

I got the front windows framed in, and finished adding the small "Deco" trim.

To fit the window panes I made a center mullion strip.

 

Here are the parts I used to make it.

There are two pieces of the small molding, and the center is a piece of the old veneer I've been reusing.

You can also see the side of my hobby miter box that I've been cutting these small pieces with.

 

 

The following photos are of the mullion strip assembled. First the rear view.

 

 

Next the side view.

 

 

Now the front view.

 

 

This is a rear view of the mullion installed in the case.

 

 

Now the front view. You can also see the added "Deco" trim.

 

 

I removed the brass trim from the window panes so I could more easily mount the glass. 

For the top glass stop I used a piece of 1/4" square stock.

 

 

The bottom stop was made from a piece of 1/8" square stock.

 

 

The glass simply slides up behind the top stop, and then gets lowered behind the bottom stop. 

 

 

And here's a frontal view. 

 

 

I also made up a pair of smaller dummy chases for the lid, but they're still in the clamps so I'll get a photo of them later.

They will add to the "Deco" look. I've also been looking through my boxes of goodies.

I know I need to get more "Brasso".

I've seen several case builds over the years, started building one with what is now the top section of this case only to have two motherboards fail with the same problem.

John Morris reminded me of the unfinished one, and it didn't take much work to adapt that case section to this build. That saved me a lot of work and time with this build.

 

I think I'll be starting another topic/post about the desk/cabinet that this PC will be going into. It will be a compliment to the PC in it's own right.

I've been going through my "goodie" boxes finding all sorts of things I've been saving for years. 

 

I'll be posting more about the PC build later today.

Tuesday thru Friday progress updates.

 

I haven't got a whole lot done the past few days, but I'll show you what I have accomplished.

 

I'm in the process of making up some more "Deco" trim for the lid of the case. Here's a couple photos of the parts. I've only got one almost finished.

 

 

And here's a couple of photos of the almost completed one set into place on the lid. I also added a molding to the top edge of the backsplash.

I'll be adding to the center chase as well to give it more of a "Deco" look.

 

 

I also picked up a new Logitech K380 Keyboard, and MX ERGO PLUS Trackball for the PC today. These are both Bluetooth wireless. They will fit in the drawer.

 

 

The keyboard will receive the "treatment" to make it look more period correct. I'm not sure what I'll do to backdate the trackball.

 

I'll also be starting another Topic/Post about the desk/cabinet that the PC will reside in. I've been working on one of the doors, and will post photos in that Topic/Post.

Saturday, and Sunday progress report.

 

I had a decent days weather yesterday, so I got the case lid and drawer stained. (The wife doesn't like the smell of the stain, but doesn't mind the poly.)

Today I did the poly, here's the finished results.

First the lid.

 

 

And the drawer. (Sorry about the blurry photo)

 

 

I also did the "Deco" to the center lid chase.

 

 

That's about all I got done on this part of the project, so while I was waiting for the poly to dry I worked on the Desk/Cabinet part of the project.

I'll be posting that progress on the other Topic/Post shortly.

Due to an almost all day rain I didn't get anything done on the PC build today.

I am however working on the Desk/Cabinet that the PC will reside in.

I ran into a slight problem while checking out laying out the upper hutch portion of the Desk/Cabinet.

I'm not sure if it's genius, or insanity! 

But you're right, I'm already working on a workaround. 

I've just got to wait for my neighbor to show up at his Antique Mall so I can go through his scrap brass.

This mornings progress report.

One step forward, three steps back.

As I mentioned in the Topic/Post about the case lid causing the monitor to be placed higher than I had anticipated I've decided to forgo using the lid on the PC case.

The added height would have required me to be looking upward towards the monitor, which I felt would end up being rather uncomfortable for extended PC use.

Bringing it down 4 1/2" would allow me to achieve a straight ahead view of the monitor which I believe I could better live with.

I will also have to come up with a rear mount for the monitor which will allow me to further lower the monitor by removing the monitors stand.

After taking a look at how the PC case would look without the lid, I must say "I Like It."

 

So without further ado here's a look at the PC case with the beveled glass window set into place, sans lid.

 

 

I've still got to trim around the beveled glass with 3/8" Oak quarter round to hide the edges, and chips along the edges.

Here's a look at the PC sitting on the Desk/Cabinet. I'm going to try working on the upper hutch section today if the weather permits.

 

 

I'll also be working on the keyboard/trackball tray section, which I will report about in the other Topic/Post.
