There used to be a lot more of it going on, but with the tablets, etc. taking over the mainstream sales of computing devices the Desktop PC has fallen along the wayside. I myself don't care for anything with a touch screen, or motion sensor. They simply don't see me. Same goes for the faucets, and hand driers that are supposed to come on when you wave your hand under them. I've had people watch me try to get these things to work, and on several occasions had the person wave their hand under them to get them to work. Their response is sometimes funny because the darned things will work fine for them, but not for me.
February 21, 20197 yr Nice enhancements. One of the coolest things I've seen. Sorry about the coffee maker...things are getting serious now.

They simply don't see me. Same goes for the faucets, and hand driers I'm with you...the large majority of what I do is from my desk-top. (1) dual screens; 21" & 19" monitors, both Dell (spent a total of $25 from Goodwill) both are perfect condition (2) Ease to retrieve, save view files (3) and so many more features...I do have a tablet I use at night to watch the late news, You-tube vids etc. I have the same issues with touchscreen devices, my tablet, my phone, faucets, driers etc. I do frequently check the mirror to verify I can see my reflection and for two large bite marks on my neck.
April 1, 20197 yr Author It's Back!!! After better than a months delay with well problems, my old 20" Dell monitor giving it up, and a few other good things I'm finally getting back to this project. I pulled the trigger and broke down and got a bigger 24.5" replacement monitor. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-xf251q-24-5-led-fhd-freesync-monitor-black/6244500.p?skuId=6244500 Now to unpack, setup, adjust, etc. Of course this larger monitor is 1.5" wider than the desk hutch opening. Back to the I don't draw plans stage.

Let's see now, yeah this might work, oh yeah that will definitely work, what about this?

April 3, 20197 yr Author Popular Post Hmmm, Me thinks we need to go a bit more "Nautical" with the desk style this time around Matey, something more on the order of a Davenport Ships Desk. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davenport_desk Sooo, I've been looking through my "Junk Stash", err I mean "Materials Supplies" Let's see now, There's this set of drawers from a pedestal desk, they might make a good base to start with... More to come....

Lew, It all depends upon what I find going through the "Materials Supplies" . It seems to me I remember seeing an Oak faced drawer that might be just right for making into a keyboard/trackball tray...Now where was that? ... And that Oak table top from a drop leaf table,...Where did I see that? ... Where did I put that Oak mirror harp from a dresser, ...those Oak posts......that cool old

The van rocked in a rut in the driveway causing the desk to flip over breaking the top trim, and a chunk out of the back. The one side was already split, and the flip didn't help. The old desk had been repaired a few times before, and I believe the bottom shelf was either added or replaced at one point ( I think it's pine). I'll be more or less totally dissmantilling, repairing the split panels, and reassembling the desk. We couldn't tell if this was a factory or very well homemade piece. The bottom of the compartment is tongue and grooved into the side panels. I've got an Oak mirror harp that I'll be adding as a pseudo monitor stand. I've got to take some photos of the other "goodies" that have been added to the available materials/supplies list. I won't need to purchase much.
