It covers the inside USB 2.0 Port that I have the Bluetooth receiver plugged into. The inside USB 2.0 Port before the shield was made/installed. And now a look with the Copper Shield installed. That's about all I'll get done for today, I have to try to figure out what's going on with the well now. We had a freeze up last Thursday, when we were at -36 Degrees and hoped we got lucky. I'm not sure if it's the foot valve, or a cracked pipe. It builds, and then loses pressure. I've got a feeling I'll be pulling about 100' of pipe back up the well casing. So until later.

BTDT...no fun especially when it's winter. Do you have a remote pressure tank? If so, could the bladder failed either do to age or pierced by ice? With pressure off the system, there should be a schrader valve on the tank to test for pre-charge...typically between 12 and 18 psi depending on tank size. Should be a small tag around the valve or plate on the tank indicating pre-charge value. Any chance the pressure switch is bleeding off pressure? Generally if the foot valve is bad or suction pipe cracked, the pump won't pull without priming or at least with a Jet Pump; not sure with a submersible? Feel for you man....wish I was closer.

Dave, The well is located in a cubby hole off the basement. Tank is in basement, pre charge pressure ok. Pump is slow to build pressure, but once it reaches shut off pressure the pressure drops back down fast. I could hear it run back down the pipes. I suspect either a cracked PVC pipe, or bad check valve in the foot valve. I tried adding a check valve above (by the tank), and now cannot get pump to prime. Weather not forecast to get above freezing until Thursday. It's going to have to wait. I'm still barely moving from snow blowing/shoveling Edited February 15, 20197 yr by Larry Buskirk

I hope you have a retrieving cable attached to the pump, that is a lot of weight to bring up if the pipe is full of water. Are you going to have to cut the sections of pipe as you bring them up, 100' is a lot to stick up in the air? I have done this before a long time ago W/iron pipe before PVC and it is not a chore I envy you with, hope you have some help. Herb

Mine was a similar type issue, but with a Jet Pump. The plastic venturi nozzle broke...I had pressure as long a I let the pump run but it would never build enough to fully charge/fill the tank. As soon as I shut the pump down, pressure bled off and no water until I'd restart the pump. So, for about a week anytime we needed water, I went out, flipped the box on...Always made sure the H2O was filled before shutting down. Fortunately all I had to do was remove the pump/motor (which is located in the old root/storm cellar). Pump/motor came from TSC and was 5 days less than 3 y/o. One of the few times I bought the extended 2 yr. warranty. That was in late October...previous pump went out in mid-December...stupid things never fail in the summer.

Herb Herb, This will be the third time I'll be pulling the pipes back up. The first time was when the submersible pump failed, the second was shortly after I installed the Jet-Pump system. (It was a freebie from a friend that went to city water) The pump apparently had a tree seed in it, and when I fired it up had water for about 1 minute before it suddenly stopped pumping. The seed had jammed into the nozzle in the foot valve. The pipes are 10' sections with thread fittings. The hard part is getting the pipes lifted through the access hole in the deck. The well room is only about 4' tall, and I'm 6' 3". I've spent the last few days clearing about 3" of ice off of the access hole cover. Hopefully the weather will warm up enough to work on it. I'm not doing it in below freezing tempuratures. On 2/15/2019 at 9:32 PM, Grandpadave52 said: Mine was a similar type issue, but with a Jet Pump. Dave, I made the mistake of shutting the pump down. It would reach shut-off pressure, but would bleed back down to turn-on pressure in about 20 seconds. For now I'm hauling water from next door. Last fall we ran a hose (450') from our place to the Antique Mall when Bruce's well was down for a few days so they could stay open for business. To cold to do the reverse now. It's supposed to warm up somewhat tomorrow, but of course the forecast calls for freezing rain/snow.

February 20, 20197 yr Author Popular Post A little progress update. I've been doing things I have the materials for as I'll have to see what it's going to take to fix the well before I can get more lumber to continue the Desk/Cabinet build. The past couple of days I've been working on Copper covers for the front panel, and hard drive. I also made up a Copper cable chase to keep the front panel cables out of the case fan. First I did the front panel cover. That nasty looking copper cleans up really well. Top view of cover. Bottom view of cover. Side view of cover. Two views of cover installed onto front panel. And a view of the assembly installed into the case. And now for the hard drive cover, first a couple of views of the hard drive before the cover. An outside view of the cover. And an inside view of the cover. The cover is a slip fit, here's a view of it installed onto the hard drive. The copper pipe behind the CPU cooler is the cable chase for the front panel, and inside USB port cables. And a view of what it looks like through the top of the case. I also changed out the DC case fan for a PWM fan that the motherboard can vary the speed of. This is the first motherboard I've had that allows the use of a PWM fan for the case. That's about it for now. Until later.
February 20, 20197 yr Dang, hate to hear you're still w/o water...that ain't cool....BTDT. Hang in there...spring has got to show up sooner or later. However, cool is the factor on this build...you do some fantastic, creative and precision work Larry.

And to think my neighbor wanted to turn in the Copper for scrap. 9 hours ago, Grandpadave52 said: Dang, hate to hear you're still w/o water...that ain't cool....BTDT. Thanks Dave, We're not totally without water, but it's a bit more work to get it. Of course it depends on the weather,...todays forecast...Morning SNOW, Mid-Day Frizzle, Afternoon/Evening Drizzle. I've got a few more tricks up my sleeves, but they will have to wait until I get the well working again.
February 21, 20197 yr Author Popular Post Todays progress. Our luck continues... Now the coffee maker has died, it decided to leak from the bottom... Anything but the coffee maker... On a positive note the warmer temps, and most of the days rain eliminated about a foot of the snow build up. So what is he doing now??? This needs some improvement. The neighbor found the Brass corners last evening, and gave them to me this morning when I went over to refill the water jugs. The hinges, and other items I already had on hand. So I decided to make a door for the front panel. The concave area is to clear the DPST toggle switch handle. And now for a front view of the door. And the door set into place. It still needs some more polishing work, but I think it's a good improvement. That's about it for today. So until later.
