On a serious note, I really appreciate the time you give  taking pictures and posting during all of your project builds.

I enjoy watching your progression, techniques, extensive use of hand tools as well as the practicality of each project.

Certainly an inspiration to anyone who follows along! Thanks!

Just wasn't safe in the shop today...for some reason, the brain remained in neutral....was making too many mistakes, and was getting too close to moving sharp objects....start a bead on the wrong edge of a part....thumb kept getting too close to saw blades like the bandsaw's....tool set up wasn't going right

Rather than make any more foul-ups,  I shut the shop down.   If the brain is not into the tasks at hand, it just isn't safe to be in the shop...

maybe tomorrow, when I may be able to concentrate better on the tasks....I can get some work done...

Stay tuned....

Wise move, Steven! Being a diabetic, I have my share of "lows". While trying to remove those nail-type gliders from the legs of a chair several years ago, I slipped, and put a knife blade into my left wrist. Lost a lot of blood, trip to the EU, doctor glued it up good as new. Now, whenever I use any sharp tools, I check my blood glucose first. A diabetic low is the same as having a few too many..... the brain just isn't functioning!

Yep! right decision...sometimes ya' gotta' know when to say when.

Sounds like me today. I very carefully drilled and tapped a bolt hole circle for 4mm 0.70 when it was supposed to be 4mm 0.75.

Eyes aren't what they used to be. Have a hard time reading the print on the taps.

John, I'm in the same boat. I test at least 6 times a day and still have ended up on the floor usually in the middle of the night.

I no longer sense when I'm low, just collapse.

"Stubborn Old Mick..."     Stewed about this morning's misadventures all day......trying to get the head straight...can't be THAT hard to do a molding?

Finally, got fed up about it...went to the shop..this time the brain WAS in the right gear.     Cleared away any excess stuff on the bench...got the two stiles and laid out one....and made a jig to hold it still long enough to make three cuts..

5a9b705374b77_planestop.jpg.450472d5f93bee8633baef0bc194b817.jpg

Set so the other end stuck out over the vise, and added a "bar" to the vise..

5a9b70a726b1e_lockbar.jpg.54936375b9ad4c3435cf28a7e7bb46df.jpg

Tighten the vise locks the part in place.  First cut needed to be along an end...

The two stiles do get and edge cut.    The rails do not.   Then lay the board down flat.  And do two more cuts..

5a9b716673177_facebeads.jpg.d040c33097bda8c2c53002a297891b7c.jpg

Second stile, I triple checked to make sure which corner got the double bead....

5a9b71b6aa3bf_stile1.jpg.e894d33469949e8d6db4b45d8cc5335e.jpg

Something like this.  Double bead is the outside corner.   Single bead will go around each opening...should be fun doing a mortise & tenon joint...:o

Had to keep clearing the plane..

5a9b72652da34_shavingclogs.jpg.a6161b598c36783b990cba60f4adcf44.jpg

About every other pass.  Tomorrow, I need to reset the plane stop...

rails.jpg.b1437c86c78f545417eed8c6e85d991c.jpg

As the rails are quite a bit shorter...but at least they only get a couple cuts...top rail ( the wider one) will only get a single bead.

Cleaned the flat areas, and the edges..

5a9b73262d56f_smoothplane.jpg.82b78d33088543462503698be08fc583.jpg

And stashed the two stiles out of my way...

stiles.jpg.563e58657107b3beca4b5459ced35539.jpg

Swept the floor, turned out the light, and called it a day...stay tuned...

Looks like the old noggin got swept of those pesky cobwebs and, things are moving along nicely. We're awaiting the completed cupboard anxiously. I'm sure it'll be another example of your mastery of tools.

Tomorrow's Monday...just a reminder.

IF the right hand is shaking to much to use a tool....not a whole lot of Mastery going on.     Shakes are clear up the right arm.....pencil marks are via the left hand, right now...something isn't quite right...

Is the boss back home yet? Think you best be getting to ER or Weekend Clinic to get this checked out.

Ditto and ASAP. Doesn't sound good, Steve.

Called two Doctor's offices today.....Cardio does not do "head case" stuff....I do get to see the Family Doctor  we use on Wed. afternoon.....all the ER around here would do, is transfer me to one of the "Big City Hospitals"

May be from those TIAs I had a while back.....will find out Wednesday.

Shop is closed...though I can go there and do some layout work....no sharp objects will be involved....other than a pencil...

Good move Steven until you know exactly what you're experiencing and dealing with here.

Pulling for ya' man! Hang in there and take care of yourself!

Layout work was done.....only drop the pencil twice....

Top rail.

5a9ddeb2a6181_skinnyrail.jpg.c42c5170f548cc2dd7780b2a8109dc61.jpg

Reset the mitre saw for tenon cuts....3/16" deep doesn't take very many cuts...Then started on digging a hole..

5a9ddf4294f57_railandstile.jpg.aa9271583bb6a3601c4d9888ccdc853a.jpg

Just to see how this will look.   Top rail fitted to the stile.   Stile was a tad long, so it won't blow out.   I can trim it to length later...

Somehow managed to get a few more tenons made...

5a9ddfcf4e035_tenonsdone.jpg.9fb1cb4e717515666864ed3bf6605588.jpg

Layout out where these will go..and started one location...

stiles.jpg.c1b12096eb796eb39567daaf6c6d4690.jpg

Have exactly ONE mortise chopped...found out a couple chisels needed sharpened...sharpened those up....then figure I didn't need to be working with "sharps"...closed the shop and went back upstairs...

Stay  tuned
