  • Looks like a sideboard to me. Though usually the antique ones of years past circa 1780 -1880 had mirrors on it and little shelves off the mirrors. Like this:

Biggest project I've completed lately was fixing a drawer my coworkers wife thought was a step.

I think I see the problem. Try renaming your image so that the name only has one “.” And ends with “jpg”. No quote symbols

Floor board was installed,....

Sideboard Proj., Plywood, Floor installed .jpg

Other end was repaired, and the wall was installed...

Sideboard Proj, Plywood, 2nd Wall .jpg

The ONLY thing I changed....went from plywood to Plywood in the file's name...strange.

Need to cut a floor board for this end....and start working on webframes for the 3 drawer to ride on.....on a Monday? What could go wrong?

Second floor board is now installed...

Need to build the drawer dividers/ webframes first ....then install the back of the case...then install the dividers..

That is/was the plan...for tomorrow..we'll see..

You do know today is MONDAY?

Awesome! I'm not sure how I missed this one.

That Spalted Ash(?) is going to be screaming gorgeous. Mrs Bandit should be well pleased. She's living in the lap of luxury.

I love seeing that #5. My #5 is my best friend. I need a longer jointer plane, maybe a #6 or #7, just can' find them in range of my wallet, lol.

Sweet work, Steven.

Some boards, you just can't get to work..

Sideboard Proj., Monday, FUBAR Back .jpg

And...this was the "Good" face..

Sideboard Proj., Monday, FUBAR Face .jpg

The look down along the edge..

Sideboard Proj., Monday, FUBAR Edge .jpg

Like looking down a County Road...( as soon as I figure out WHERE the Fire Pit is in the back yard...that will be this board's new home...

Repair work going on...

Sideboard Proj., Monday, repair work .jpg

and the other floor board is installed..

Sideboard Proj., Monday, 2nd floor .jpg

Will trim that out, once the glue has cured..

2 planks to the shop...needed cross cut, and ripped ,and resaw...

Sideboard Proj., Monday, ripped & resawn .jpg

6 stiles, and 6 rails...the rails connect to the stiles..

Sideboard Proj., Monday, test piece .jpg

With a tenon into a slot...so..

Sideboard Proj., Monday, 12 tenons .jpg

12 tenons...I was going to use the tablesaw to mill a groove...did not work out..so..

Sideboard Proj., Monday, Slot machine .jpg

Set this up to mill a slot...

Sideboard Proj., Monday, slots for Tenons .jpgI also have to allow for a Dovetail "tail" on each end...I think THAT will wait until tomorrow...

Stay tuned..cowboypistol1

Seems the outside cats have taken up residence in the crawl space under the house..as the Casa del Chatto is rather ice covered...so..

Sideboard Proj., joinery, Heathen's Feeder .jpg

And, in their rush to get here...their fat bodies knock a few things over..

Sideboard Proj., joinery, Heathens did this .jpg

BTW...that panel with all them c clamps on the ends...is to be the Top of this Sideboard Project....

I thought I'd haul 2 spalted planks to the shop, today...in hopes I'd wind up with 3 Drawer Front blanks.....wrong....by the time the nasty stuff was removed..the 3 were too narrow...by almost 5-6".....trudge back upstairs and grab a 3rd plank...cross cut the widest section out....rip into 3 pieces...and start gluing one to each drawer front...

Sideboard Proj., joinery, other 2 fronts .jpg

Here is the first 2...the thrid one?

Sideboard Proj., joinery, 3rd drawer front .jpg

Is still sitting in the bench vise/3rd hand...will let these sit over night..

Changed out router bits...tried to get the slider jig to move...was a bit too tight...

Sideboard Proj., joinery, Dovetail milling .jpg

dovetail bit is buried halfway into the fence...The front 3 stiles get a dovetail "Tail" on each end...the 3 for the back do not...

Waiting on the drawer fronts, now.....as I need them to help lay out where the webframes will go...

May stop here...and see about 2 panels for the Doors...and the frames to hold them...at least get the 2 door panels glued up...

Will see how things go, tomorrow...need to go out and buy 3 1 x 8 x 8' pine planks...for the sides and the backs of 3 drawers...

Stay tuned...

have 2 panels in the clamps at the moment...they are to be the Raised Panels in the 2 doors...

Not sure IF I have enough Ash to build the frames around them, to build the doors....

Also need to buy a few 1 x 8 x 8' Pins boards...drawer sides and backs...3 should be just enough?

2 panels in the clamps...

Gonna be sitting there a spell...

This board..

Sideboard Proj., door frame, start here .jpg

soon became this mess..

Sideboard Proj., door frame, door stiles .jpg

Stiles for 2 doors...when I can get back to the shop....needed to resaw a few other boards..

Sideboard Proj., door frame, door rails .jpg

But..somedays...compost just happens...when one gets in too big of a hurry..

Sideboard Proj., door frame, Fresh DNA .jpg

And fresh DNA winds up...everywhere...3 hours in the ER..

Sideboard Proj., door frame, 20 stitches .jpg

Look at the shirt...left thumb got 3 stitches...right thumb needed a few more, as he had to sew a flap back onto the thumb...

Looks like I will be taking a break from the shop?

Oh my goodness Bandit. Not good. Thankful it wasn't any worse but this is bad enough. You best be taking a break at minimum a week AFTER the stitches are removed. Take care and prayers for a full recovery. The project can wait and we definitely can too.

Sorry to hear about the mishap pal. Sucks!!!

My boss would suggest you shake that off and get back to work though, I'm just saying.....😁

Oh no! Hope you heal up quickly.

  • Popular Post

Man, Steven, so glad it wasn’t any worse. Take time to heal and we will be here for the rest of the project

  • Popular Post

Yes give it time to heal . All that will be right where you left it when the healing is done. AND you can gather thoughts on the next project.

Echo al the above, time to stop and let things heal.
