Steven, I'm sure you wouldn't want to drive to Lima for that but the ophthalmologist there does the procedure at his office...gets you out of the hospital loop. There's probably a few others closer to you that may offer the same service.

September 2, 20232 yr Popular Post @Fred W. Hargis Jr - continued prayers for Marie, hope she is feeling a heap better today and continues to improve. I've a particularly busy weekend ahead. Yesterday I assembled a display cabinet that will find a home in the garage, today it is painting carcass and doors. After a big rain event from the hurricane (3") the lawn needs a mowing, also on tap for today. I bid on a few auction items last night, pickup for what I got is today and tomorrow. It's close by so I will get to it today or tomorrow. Today is college football! OSU plays at noon I think, I can catch a few plays while I paint. UGA plays later but on a channel we don't get Daughter is coming in tonight; I think she is attending a wedding tomorrow. Biggest news - daughter bought her first house this past week, on the edge of Atlanta! Fairly new home, so that's quite a relief from the home renovations that would have been taking place with some of the houses she had looked at. Monday is daughter's birthday, we will be following her up to Atlanta and spending Monday and some of Tuesday helping her get the house "situated". I've several ceiling fans to install and other light fixtures. She plans to pick up a couple furniture items from Ikea that will require "some assembly" and likely dozens of other jobs will be discussed and planned out...
September 2, 20232 yr Author Popular Post Went to roll up windows on Pilot last evening and POP! the passenger's side rear window fell back down. For now our good friend Red Green has the answer. I'll replace the regulator assembly when it gets here after our scheduled "4 Day 90°+ Labor Day Weekend Heatwave".

Marie has had a lot of surgeries and Yesterday was the only time I had seen tears on her face from the pain. The surgery was a lumbar decompression, First, thankful all went well for Marie. I sympathize with her. I know exactly how she feels with both pre & post op pain and literally begging for pain medication. My heart goes out to her and you as well. Reverse roles here as my wife saw me through. Prayers for better days ahead with a quick and full recovery.
September 2, 20232 yr Popular Post 3 hours ago, Fred W. Hargis Jr said: she may be released today but more likely tomorrow. Jeez Fred, for a surgery like that, seems they'd keep her for a bit longer. But on the other side of that, the hospital as we all know is not the healthiest or cleanest place to stay in, so probably better off in your own home where you can care for her. Do you know how long she'll have to take those pain meds, they can really mess with some folks, I hope not for long. Praying for a speedy recovery and better pain management in the future.

Thanks Bandit. Always love seeing what sites you encounter at this event. Amazing how much stuff is there. Lots of drool worthy items. One thing I'd be looking for is a super-size Lemon Shake-up BTW, nice scores on your items too. That M-F 308 is cool. I've never spotted one of those in the wild before. My doctor had a inhouse surgery center. In and out in maybe 2 hours. @Fred W. Hargis Jrpraying for a quick recovery and better days.

September 3, 20232 yr Popular Post I've spent the weekend so far fiddling with my Taig CNC mill. First time I used it awhile back it demonstrated considerable backlash and ruined the first part I was trying to cut. Found settings in Mach3 to compensate some, but realized even how I zero out the machine may still end up having the toolpath start a bit offset from where it is supposed to. So this morning I woke up with a few ideas to deal with it and still get good parts. First approach is to use a material block that is wider than the finished part. If the profile shape isn't exactly centered it won't matter. Second approach is to zero on different edges depending on where the toolpath cut will start. Always approach toward the start of the cut rather than just drop down once passing over the material. Take up the backlash before hitting the material. I used a manual milling machine often when I was in college. It was up to me to move the cutter and watch carefully the lines I'd scribed on the material. The one "feature" this CNC milling machine needs is an eye view to make sure it is cutting where the marks are. This is a challenge I didn't expect as my wood CNCs both have anti-backlash nuts on the drive screws. 4D
September 3, 20232 yr Author Popular Post I started on my latest "Back To The Future" project "The Electrola Victrola" yesterday and will be posting about it a bit later today. Still digging for bits and pieces and rolling "That Plan" around in that "One Celled "SketchUp". Still working on some of the dimensions as I lay the parts for the project out.
