September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post Friday again folks! Been a little busy here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere". Haven't had much time to work on the Limken desk or Komputator case builds. We've been trying to get Bruce's 1999 Astro van running. Got the Pass Key system bypassed but finally figured out the injector system problem late yesterday afternoon. It will require a trip to the "Boneyard" to get the connectors for the ECM. One of them is being very touchy about keeping electrical contact with the ECM. Also hauled over an old Craftsman TS (From Bruce's) so I can get my "Komputator" case build on the road to completion. My Delta is to buried at the present time. So after doing a boneyard run and replacing the "Suspect" connector sometime this morning I hope to get back to more fun things. That's my weekend agenda. What's your plans for the upcoming Labor Day Weekend?
September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post Well, we're off to the hospital for Marie's back surgery. It's at 12:30, but we're supposed to be there plenty early. She got medically cleared yesterday about 2:30...30 minutes before the time where she would have to be rescheduled. So my role as caretaker will be greatly expanded for the next 6 weeks or so, something that I undertake with love...but not wish on anybody. I just hopes this relives her back pain as much as the surgeon said it will.

September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post My best to Marie. Hoping her pain is relieved. Be sure to look after yourself too.
September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post @Fred W. Hargis Jr, Mimi and I send prayers of strength and comfort for you and Marie.
September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post WOW, Labor Day weekend already? What happened to Memorial Day weekend? Thoroughly enjoyed the mild, cool and dry weather we've had this last week. Got the yard mowed Monday and a few other tasks during the week including the F510 running again. Still have a few shields to get back on, replace the PTO switch and a few other minor things, then test her out on the fence rows and roadsides. After that time to start mowing yard again; second time this week. Got all the weedeating done yesterday. Unsure of other projects over the weekend as we go under a heat dome again. Church responsibilities Sunday. Since I'm off work Monday probably will be some grilling going on.
September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post @steven newman...Prayers to you today Bandit. IIRC, you have your first cataract surgery today? Take it easy today and give the eye a rest. You'll be overworking it the next couple days at Tractor Fest spying all those bargains. Warning: you'll be seeing things you've missed before.
September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post After last night's 1" of rain when I left the shop overhead door ajar a bit, I got the result of my stupidity all mopped up. Now, it's on to scrolling a kitchen sign for sister #2. Phyl informed me that tomorrow we're hosting a family "dupper". Our name for that food consumption time that falls between mid day and evening. Probably BBQ and raw chopped cabbage. So, shoptime will be shortened. Family time is more important.
September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post That's a real bummer, Bandit. Hope they get their act together quickly.
September 1, 20232 yr Popular Post first one glueing up. glued, screwed (temp, to work top), clamped, weighted (lead weights). and now we wait for a few hours, then cut out the openings (that's where the screws are). two thicknesses of 1/2" plywood.
September 2, 20232 yr Popular Post Took out my frustrations on the Tractor Fest...spent one hour walking around...until it got just too hot...spent $13.25. Lufkin No. 456 Steel caliper =$1 including the OEM Case... Millers Falls No.308 (3/8" chuck) and a Handyman No. H1220..=$4... $1 for a framer chisel, 1-3/4" wide.... $3 Sargent No. 306 adjustable mouth block plane $5 for a roll of brace bits... Only missing 2 sizes....that I just MIGHT have... The $0.25? Was for a LONG cloth chisel roll-up....but no chisels. I just might have enough chisels.. Only half the vendors were opened, today...rest will be opened tomorrow.. Yes, the camera went along today....so...does anyone want to see the results? I will be calling Tuesday to see when a reschedule can be done...in another Hospital....nEVER going back to THAT one, ever again.

September 2, 20232 yr Popular Post West Liberty Tractor Fest, Friday Sept 1st... Start here... Turn away from this to see... Walk behind this line-up... Drill press will need a vise? Covered....end of the row? $10 mitre box and saw ( I already have 5 ) Turn the corner.. $165.00 and they throw in the case of tools...not sure about the "stand"...one last spot at this vendor (out of the 5 I stopped at) Almost forgot...need a reuglar vise? Other stops along the walk... Hammers, axes, hatchets..Gumball? Drawknives and Jed's Whiskey Jugs? Broadly speaking? Somebody was cutting some BIG pipes? Was too busy trying to carry the bag of goodies to take too many photos....Bag was getting a bit heavy...and only about half of the vendors were open, today....rest SHOULD be open the rest of the weekend....
September 2, 20232 yr Popular Post I really need to go to that West Liberty event and take a look. Anyway, my deepest thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers for Marie yesterday. The surgery, according to the doc, went very well with no problems adn he's convincd it will relieve her pain somewhat. But when it was over Marie was in more pain than I had ever seen, in the recovery room they maxed her out on all the narcotic pain relivers they had, and then administered another that wasn't narcotic.....she was resting somewhat peacefully after that. Marie has had a lot of surgeries and Yesterday was the only time I had seen tears on her face from the pain. The surgery was a lumbar decompression, and they actually cut off part of here 2 lower vertebrae to get access to the nerves to free them from the pressure the spine was exerting, there was also something they did to one of the discs. But that part is past her now, and the recovery stage begins. Once again, thanks to all. Really appreciated. I'll be heading back to the hospital later, she may be released today but more likely tomorrow. Edited September 2, 20232 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr
