Friday September 16th 2022 - What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

:ChinScratch: Well what do you know about that, it's Friday again. <_<

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we've been taking it easy.

Putting quarter panel patch panels on the neighbors wifes 2002 Blazer 2 door.

Pulling the radiator core support back into shape using ratchet straps, and a big tree, putting a boneyard hood, grill, bumpers, and headlight, along with replacing a wheel speed sensor, and idler arm on his 2005 Express van, along with working on the roof rack

Also been working on closing the main entrance to the Pilot "Mouse Motel".

Might get around to pulling the dash so I can get at the top two mounting bolts for the HVAC blower motor housing so I can screen off the outside air intake. Screened off the cowl vent yesterday hoping it will prevent some of the Spruce tree needles from getting into the cowl, and to the screen I'll be putting to keep the mice out of the blower motor housing.

Those weather people are saying we may get more rain this weekend. Hopefully it won't interfere with taking it easy. :Tapping:

So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

:throbbinghead:

Hopefully not too many typing errors, I can't find my glasses this morning. :BugEyeSmiley:

Our house probably has more outlets outside than it does inside, and a lot of them are on switches. We've never known (in most cases) which switch works which outlets....if any. So this weekend I hope to figure out at least some of them. The idea is to hook a light to every outlet using extension cords so the lights are close to the back door, then go switch every unknown indoor switch to see if anything lights up. Another problem with this is that most of the switches are rotary dimmer switches...so I don't know if they're off or on. Replacing them with toggle switches is on the list.

I burned my left ring finger yesterday when some super glue leaked onto my glove.  When the glue went off the temperature inside the glove caused a large  1st degree burn covering most of the pad from the nail to the knuckle.  I couldn't get the glove off fast enough due to a velcro closure at the wrist.  I've got some rough turning to do, will see how it's doing tomorrow.

Closing in on the Limbert tables build. Working on the shelves. Lots of sanding. Then comes flattening and sanding the mesquite rounds to be the table tops. Gotta dig out the slab flattening apparatus and find the big flattening router bit. Final step, for those slabs, is a coat, or two, of clear resin. That's after cleaning up the  mess made with the flattening process.  Fun, fun, fun.

Another way is to plug in a radio and just listen for it to come on.  Of course, this is one at a time.  With lights, you can do a bunch at once and turn on one switch and see what effects, if any.

Final countdown on the Spongebob set construction.  Been working Saturdays for the last 3 months, and now every evening this week.  Tomorrow is the last in-shop day. It's to the point where we have to walk sideways to get thru the shop. We'll do some final construction tasks in the morning, then load up the truck in the afternoon.  Deliver and unload Sunday, then return, reload, and redeliver once or twice more.  Set pieces, props, and costumes all get delivered to the off-site theater at the local high school.  Next week is "tech week" where we do the final assembly/re-assembly on site, and the actors and stage crew rehearse on stage.  Friday and Saturday evening shows and Saturday and Sunday matinees.   After the Sunday show, breakdown, load the truck and return to the shop.

The subsequent show is scheduled for Feb, so there won't be much of a break.

Thanks Fred.  While helping our son & new bride this summer do some electrical work, there was one switch that we never did figure out what it controlled.  It was live, and in a bank of three switches.  One switch was a four way kitchen lights, one was the light right inside the door.  The third switch - still unknown.  I will ask him if he has any outside outlets that he might look at.

@forty_caliber -I was unaware of this danger with super glue!  Thanks for the heads up, do hope you recover quickly.

Last weekend the wife and I took the train to New Orleans.  Went down Friday, had a large weekend, and then the train ride back on Monday.  Home late Tuesday.  Catching up on mail and such Wednesday I got an unexpected package with a beautiful handcrafted tool - many many thanks @HandyDan!

For the  weekend.  Getting our new booster shots today, followed by some outside & yard work.  Time to do the fall wash of the front porch and trimming of some bushes.  Game day on Saturday - Go Georgia!!!  And, I need to sketch up some plans for a chester drawer... ;)

Cleaning up around the house today.  Brothers and sisters coming over tomorrow for our monthly get together.  Concocted a remote switch for the garage door opener on the back building.  Used a contactor operated but a remote switch easily found for turning outdoor lights on and off.  Works great.

Slow starting today. Hope it's just allergies versus something else developing.

Trailblazer left on the ambulance yesterday for ATF cooler line by-pass. Still no Buick:angry: Spirited phone call to commence in a bit. Truck is on jack stands trying to figure out rear brake issues...beginning to suspect ABS controller??? My old scanner doesn't do ABS so....

Lots of outside work to do. I'll see how I feel. Monthly men's breakfast tomorrow AM. Sunday, Deacon ordination service followed by meal. Grandsons spending the night tomorrow.

Had a nice surprise visit yesterday PM by oldest grand-daughter. She had a consultation appointment with oral surgeons to get her wisdom teeth extracted. Drove out and spent a couple hours at home. Where has that time gone?

I do two shows a year and the smaller of the two is tomorrow.  Hopefully, I won’t sell out and create a supply crunch for the November show.

Had a event at the Ag Museum today. Was only till 1 but got hung up til after 2. Really glad to get home after a stop at Sams for the wife. Tomorrow woodturners club in AM and demo after for museum event. With the knee really cutting up not looking forward to the day.

No matter I guess. At 9:35P, tested + for Covid cooties so I'm grounded now. Other than every joint and muscle aching and an occasional cough, I dont feel too bad. Well except the no energy or appetite thing too. Even a chocolate covered, glazed donut doesnt sound good. Guess it wasn't allergies after all although that isn't helping much either. Had a great streak going as the last one in the immediate family to contract it. Most everyone has had it at least 2x already. Get to check that off the To Do list now.

Dave, Sorry to hear about the bug.

Does your state have a "Lemon Law"?

If so tell the dealer you're about ready to file a claim. Bet that gets results.

Our state does, if they can't fix it in 3 tries they have to buy it back. (Full Price including taxes)

Thanks guys. Added sore throat and extra trips to the bathroom today. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.:ChinScratch:

Larry, dealer has offered to buy it back or exchange for another vehicle. Trouble is, for the overall condition of the vehicle and all the options it has, I can't find another like it anywhere close to the price point especially knowing all the work that now has been done. While greatly inconvenienced over this, some might say I'm a stubborn bull-headed old man trying to prove a point over the highly emphasized selling point concerning a warranty.
