Didn't really bother me, just stung a little.

Squirted pretty good. :P

Wrapped it up with a paper towel, and went back to work.

Thought the neighbor was going to faint by the look on his face and in his eyes.

Had to cut a crushed brace off of the 05 Express original bumper bracket so I could straighten out the rest of the bracket. Ended up using a replacement bracket from the 06 GMC to replace the crushed piece on the original. Ended up cutting three loose to get two good ones.

Tried a few different ways to straighten the brackets, and decided the best approach  since it was Friday (This was the fun part! :DevilLaughing:) was to go "Forged In Fire" on them and used the five pound sledge and the anvil.

Why not just use the brackets from the GMC you wonder?

We tried, there is about an 1 1/4" difference in the height the brackets hold the bumper below the grill between the 2500's, and 3500's. :WonderScratch:

The GMC brackets hang the bumper lower, and Bruce wants to install a front receiever hitch on this van for bike rack, hitch shelf, etc..

Pulled the steering box on the 05 Express so we could find out which Pitman Arm to order.

Also reassembled the front bumper assembly got the brackets straightened enough that the adjustment holes allow for a nice fit.

Still need to paint it. Couldn't find a chrome one.

Final countdown on the Spongebob set construction.  Been working Saturdays for the last 3 months, and now every evening this week.  Tomorrow is the last in-shop day. It's to the point where we have to walk sideways to get thru the shop. We'll do some final construction tasks in the morning, then load up the truck in the afternoon.  Deliver and unload Sunday, then return, reload, and redeliver once or twice more.  Set pieces, props, and costumes all get delivered to the off-site theater at the local high school.  Next week is "tech week" where we do the final assembly/re-assembly on site, and the actors and stage crew rehearse on stage.  Friday and Saturday evening shows and Saturday and Sunday matinees.   After the Sunday show, breakdown, load the truck and return to the shop.

The subsequent show is scheduled for Feb, so there won't be much of a break.

Last in the shop day today.   We got the first load on the truck for delivery in the morning.  At least one more load of set and perhaps another with costumes and props.  We didn't have many show up today.  Due to size of exit door, truck, and size and fragility of pieces a bunch of stuff will need to be assembled Sunday and Monday-Thursday evenings, around rehearsals.  Going to be a busy week.

Well electrical tape will do in an emergency when proper tape, ie duct or painters is unavailable.;) Put some neosporin on it tonight wrapped in a clean paper towel with 3M invisible tape. Should be fine tomorrow.:WonderScratch: My medical degree is from the internet and YouTube University with residency practiced in my garage so feel free to consult a second opinion.

Dave,

What's it doing/not doing?

P0306, #6 cylinder misfire. So far they've done the following

  1. Replaced all spark plugs
  2. Replace all ignition coils
  3. Replaced intake gasket several times since intake has to be removed to access most everything.
  4. R&R cylinder heads and decarbonized the valves per Buick TSB even though compression on that cylinder was 170+
  5. My understanding a cylinder leak-down test was also performed and was OK.
  6. Replaced timing chains, gears, tensioner (tensioner 2x). I believe this was self-inflicted problem when they had heads off.
  7. Replaced Injector(s)
  8. Had the original ECM scoped at Chevy dealer and all tests came back OK
  9. Supposedly "pinged" all coil & injector wiring point to point for continuity, resistance and ground but everything checked OK.
  10. I've suggested but not sure its been done to pressure check intake manifold; while it is aluminum and not plastic perhaps a crack or porosity? Ford 4.6/5.4L as well as Chrysler, 3.7, 3.6, 4.7, 5.7 are bad about cracked intakes albeit they're plastic. However usually accompanied with P0300 code along with specific cylinder(s)
  11. The few miles we drove it, the miss was intermittent. However as soon as I cleared the code it would reset almost immediately in Pending before finally setting CEL after "X" start/stop cycles
  12. I'm wondering if maybe a cam lobe is worn but supposedly they've checked that already.
  13. Dealer is a long term, independent family dealership with a good reputation. Neither his mechanic, 2 independent shops or the local Chevy dealer has been able to pinpoint it yet. Scheduled to go into Chevy dealer shop a week from Monday. The same engine is used in Impalas, Traverse, GMC Acadias, the Enclaves and probably some others.
  14. IDK, maybe it is the harness???

:ChinScratch:Sounds to me like you have either an intermittant Crank, or Cam Position Sensor.

My 2000 Ram would just plain shut off while driving at most any speed, which was a bit unnerving at highway speeds. By the time I could get pulled over it would start running on its own again without turning the key. :WonderScratch: The only code that would come up was for the Idle Air Control which I replaced. Didn't stop the problem until finally (Took about 1 1/2 years) it threw two codes. One for the Idle Air Control, the other for the Crank Position Sensor. (Of course it waited to be out of warranty, and the dealer couldn't figure it out.) When I removed the CPS (Had to do by the "Brail System" from below due to its location behind the passengers side valve cover, tucked back under the firewall. ) I found that the sensor pickup had become somewhat magnetized, and had a flake of rusty metal that was flopping around the sensors pickup. Replaced that and haven't had the codes since.

IDK? Thought they had replaced cam position sensor?? Don't think they replaced. crank position sensor though. Starts excellent both with key and remote start. Only stumbles when miss is present.

Daughters 2000 Jeep Cherokee, 4.0, I6 had a crank postion sensor go bad. Car was parked here. We all went on vacation together for 7 days. When we returned, she loaded it up to head home. Wouldn't start. After new cap, rotor, ignition module, narrowed it to that. Replaced it...fired right up. Go figure went bad sitting in drive.

Seems more like cam position sensor, did they replace the sensor when they replaced the gear?

Does it stumble when cold, or after it warms up?
