October 16, 20169 yr Here's mine. The bench is probably 10-12 years old, maybe a little older. I can't remember exactly when I made it. I made it pretty much word for word from a set of plans in Woodsmith. The blue strip in front is t-track, with a gap in the middle to facilitate using clamps, hold downs, etc. That comes in pretty handy at times. You can see my router table, built from plans in Shop Notes, to the right. That was I PITA to build, still not completely happy with it. I'll get back to it and fine tune it someday. The storage cabinet in the base was built and installed about a year or so later. Off to the right end of the bench, between the bench and router table, is a pull out vertical panel for chisels, screwdrivers, squares, etc. I'll post a picture of that if anyone is interested.

October 28, 20169 yr Popular Post This picture shows the tools installed on the tool rack. This next picture shows the rare earth magnets used to keep the chisels and combination square from bouncing around. This is the other side of the rack. And again, showing the rare earth magnets used to keep the squares in place. This is one of the handiest things I have done for my shop. It keeps the tools I use the most right at hand, without having to dig through a drawer to find them. I still have room to add some more holders, but right now this works fine for me. Thanks for looking. Edited October 28, 20169 yr by PostalTom messed up on pictures.
October 28, 20169 yr that is one squared away tool drawer... I like it a lot... if you ever need a guard for the chisels... lots of colors and sizes... something else you can do w/ them...
October 28, 20169 yr Tom, that's a really nice bench and storage system. Mine needs updated and, you've given me lots of ideas. Thanks. John, seeing those curved lams reminds me, did you build your steamer?

October 28, 20169 yr Author Thanks Tom!!! Nice racks, and nice design. I like the magnets, great idea!

October 30, 20169 yr Well, there IS this block of Pine, sitting on my bench... trying out the new locations for the benchdogs.... BTW: Plane is a Millers Falls No. 56B......giving it a bit of work, while the Cordovan 60-1/2 tales a rest. Roundovers, the easy way?
October 31, 20169 yr Popular Post What's on my workbench? Whatever doesn't fit on the wall or the floor, apparently! I'm more of a handyman than a straight woodworker. BTW, the bench was built 44 years ago, out of re-purposed packing crates for car windshields. Drawers were added later, when I found a discarded cabinet of some sort. The blue vise is fairly recent, the red one has been there a looooong time. Just never had the heart to throw the old thing out. I DO have an assembly table, an old folding picnic table with aluminum legs. Not pretty, but it can be stored out of the way when not needed. John
