I found a gadget that makes sectioning a quick and easy breeze. Some of you guys may already know about it but I just discovered it so excuse my enthusiasm. Lol It's called a sewing gauge. I saw a friend's mom using it the other day and it hit me like a ton of bricks. She was using it to space out buttons on a shirt and I thought wow, that would work great in woodworking for spacing out a piece of wood.

I fairly recently picked up a set of 12” and 6” incra rulers and I am very impressed. Very accurate, very easy to use. No complaints, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for good layout tools.

a set of Japanese marking knives, I'd like to thank Keith Mealy for helping me identify what these knives are used for, marking. Used for scribing fine lines on wood, they are very sharp. -

A different set of markings compared to the other knives. I want to research some more on these to find out what these markings mean, we have a friend from Japan who I am sure will be able to translate these marks. -

An unknown makers mark on the back on these knives, all the marks appear to be different, but the knives seem to be made from the same maker. -

I sanded the post to 220, I did not get too carried away with the sanding on the rear posts, since it's going into the steamer, the grain will raise anyway. After I took the post to 220 I marked a couple lines where the rear and side rung holes must be drilled, and where the back slats will have to be mortised in by hand.- 2 comments

I have been asked by a friend to make a chess board. The wood working part is easy but he wants the letter/number coordinates placed around the perimeter. I haven't any idea how to do this and make it look nice. Anyone have any suggestions??
