  • Looks like a sideboard to me. Though usually the antique ones of years past circa 1780 -1880 had mirrors on it and little shelves off the mirrors. Like this:

Top looks great. However I have always heard sheet rock screws are not good for furniture use. No horizontal strength. Plus I always had them snap in hardwood.

Drawers are all fitted so that they will slide in and out better...do not NEED them to be a "Piston Fit"...merely needs to keep most of the dust out...

So, since those are done..

Laundry Room 30, Stained, plus a rag .jpg

I suppose I had better move that rag...

Laundry Room 30, Stained, without the rag .jpg

That better? I am not staining the back of this ...thing....however, I do need to somehow get this fat body back in here...

So that I can stain and wipe down this end of the case...

Will let this smelly mess dry overnight, and see what it looks like...and do any "touch-ups" required..OldManSmiley

Bought a $10 cardboard box filled with tools, yesterday...figured this will be better than it sitting upstairs on the Dinning Room Table

Closed up the drawer..opened the can of varnish..and a brush.

Top NOW has a coat of Warm Gloss Poly brushed on. Back did not want to bend well enough to do the lower section..

Letting this thing sit a day...

Stay tuned..

(There IS a LONG set of photos, covering most of the last Rust Hunt finds.....Might start a thread about those, IF anyone wants to read it?)

Letting this sit a spell...rather boring to sit and watch varnish dry...
