October 14, 20241 yr Author Popular Post comment_344179 Hmmm..what patch.. Then, laid out the corrected mortise.. Made one pass with the hammer and chisel.. Clean out the chips..check the depth, pare down until just over 1/4" deep....try a dry fit... Used that flush cut saw to fine tune the fit, a bit... Next task..had 2 raised panels to "adjust" to fit the grooves a bit better.. My system of hold downs.. That Craftsman #3720 to peel a few layers off.. Rotate until all 4 edges fit into the grooves... Flip over, and plane the show faces smooth..with.. A No. 3 smoother...That knot tried to fall out..we have ways.. Got both Raised panels done...then tried a dry fit of today's 90 minute shop time... I think that will be just enough, for one day? Next time IN the shop? Will be to half lap the Lock Rail through here...with a miter joint in each corner to match the rest of the corners... Which means I will need to tear this and the other dry fitted assemblies apart.. And this top rail will need a mortise cut and chopped... Stay tuned... Report

October 15, 20241 yr Author Popular Post comment_344187 Nope...because I worked in the shop on a Monday...no choice, as I have a lot of other things going on the next 2 days... I might even go back to the shop, tonight..and get things set up for the next shop time....we'll see... Report
October 16, 20241 yr Author Popular Post comment_344331 Ok...Last Mortise laid out.. Test the miters... Hmmm, not letting the tenon go all the way down? We have ways.. So that during the dry fits, I can run this saw along the miters, to better match things up.. Almost there.. Half Lap joint? 1st half results.. Needed planed smooth...2nd half? Then cut the miters...not going down all the way? Hmmmm, run 2nd half through 1/8" higher with the depth of cut..then see how the miters line up... Then let the glue set overnight... Maybe tomorrow, I can add the rest of Door #3 parts to this... As I need my bench back, to start on the Last of 4 doors... Stay tuned.. Report
October 17, 20241 yr Author Popular Post comment_344394 Roh..Kay..Raggie..Start here.. Have the required "adjusters" at the ready... If'n the little one doesn't work.... Lay in a supply of clamps, and a brush to moosh the glue around a bit.. Including that big pipe clamp underneath...and..DONE! As for Door #4...? Have gotten a start on it, at least... Will let the glue-up sit a day or 2...then clean it up, trim a few spots, fill a few spots...and then see how it looks... Stay tuned.. Report

Mortises to join the Lock Rail to the Outside Stiles.. Have been chopped and dry fitted... Half Lap Joint between the Lock Rail and the Center Stile....has been milled ( a bit too tightly) and glued up.. Just how tight? Ooops...will glue these back on AFTER the door has been glued up.... 2 out of the 4 Raised Panels have been cleaned up, and fitted... need to do the last 2, and then MAYBE try to glue this mess up into Door #4.....of the 4 door set... We'll see... Stay tuned... Report
