March 16, 20224 yr What the Manzanita looked like at the start to the final results is awesome. That's a beautiful dish!
March 17, 20224 yr Lew, this may be buried back in one of the posts about that Manzinita and I didn't see it, but was the flat surface on that piece done on the lathe as well?

Fred, I did do the flat portion on the lathe. Flattened the entire surface after cutting off a small piece at the edge that was sticking "up". Then scooped out the center. Went back and fine tuned the flat surface enough to create the small lip at the flat/bowl transition. Then added the rings.
March 17, 20224 yr Wonderful! I clicked on an ad for a lathe. There was a BIG log in the lathe and the turner was about to go at it. Looked fun. Is wood turning addictive?
March 19, 20224 yr Author @HandyDan Thank You! @DuckSoup Thanks! @Gene Howe Thank You! @Fred W. Hargis Jr Thanks! Did the additional posts help answer your question about creating the flat surface on the turning? @Dovetail Thank You! And, yes, woodturning is a slippery slope into addiction... @Gerald Thanks!
