Congrats on the anniversary Steven.  This project is motoring right along.  I like the small you've installed.  I've not seen one like it before.

Outside has been given a coat of that SMELLY BLO ( allowed to sit a bit, then wiped down)......Will see about the underside of the lid, this afternoon-ish:WonderScratch:  and maybe install the cedar planking floor?

Added a 1 x 1 strip of Ash across the back...right at the hinge for the lid....idea is as a "back stop" so the lid will not go over the back of the chest.....serves the same task as adding a chain between the lid and the chest...strip was glued in place, before any finish was applied, and then finished just like the rest...

handles?   May use a "cup" version like on the Mini Tool Box...

centered in the top rail of the Blanket Chest's ends..:ChinScratch:.we'll see....need to clean out the shop, to get a place on the floor large enough to work on this project..:WonderScratch:....THAT might take a while....:JawDrop:

Stay tuned:cowboy:

Time for a PIP?   had to clean up a mess, first..

Move these 2 out of the way..

Remove all the trash..

Floor WAS clean..

Which promptly left a trail of sawdust behind....Swept that up....moved the Blanket Chest into the cleaned up area..

Still needs a few coats of varnish....

Right under the hinge...is the backstop....open the lid far enough..

And the backstop will keep the lid from going too far back...

While this little lid serves as a prop, to protect your fingers from the lid slamming down on them...waiting on the stained main lid to dry, before any varnish will go on...

Stay tuned...just went out and bought some handles, and another brush for the varnish....gives me 2, one per coat?

Well..I didn't really like those white streaks ( glue schmears..:ArguingSmileys:.)so....Dremel to sand out the spots.   sander with 320 grit paper to sand all over the chest.   Glaze coat of stain....had wiped of the sanding dust first, of course....let the glaze sit a bit...lightly wiped it down....then brushed on Varnish coat #2...:ChinScratch:

Later, I'll get a bag of 0000 steel wool and give the chest a good rub down...debating on some nail on foot pads....we'll see...

Almost done...then I can go back to making small, fancy boxes...

Stay tuned:cowboy:

That was a great bit of touch up Steven.  That glaze coat of stain - did you do the whole chest, or just those areas you were fixing?

Entire chest....sanding had exposed a couple other spots.   might as well make everything the same colour..
